You've all probably seen this on admission pages everywhere, does that just mean, "We just want to see the highest GPA possible?"

What does that mean when you compare against someone who's probably taken no further than Ochem or Biochem and gotten high marks as opposed to someone who's taken just about about everything 3 to 4 per quarter, and run the gamut of A to C's? Latter being more common than the former.

well its relative.

adcomms want you to take the responsibility in taking classes you can manage good grades on.

this doesnt mean take classes that may cover some irrelevent smattering knowledge about whatever. but it also doesnt mean you should hammer yourself with upper division biochem classes if you cant handle it.

they would rather have you take a so-so class that is mid-range in diffilcultly and get an A, than see you get a C in a super-hard-study until your eye balls fall out class.

That statement refers to ECs, not to grades

Instead of spending 1 hour a month volunteering in 20 places, focus in on just a few. You will be able to achieve/learn more this way
