I just felt like raging about this. I would be doing a lot better on my gen chem questions if we were allowed a freaking calculator. >< I just feel so rushed because I suck at math. Like royally. How do you all do it?

Don't worry about it, on the actual DAT you will not have to do any challenging calculations in the GC section. Most often you just have to set up the solution - not solve it.

We should all count our blessings that there is no calculator for the science section. If a calculator was available, then we would have to calculate 0.6684 moles x 2.3784 atm x 8.1499 L, etc. Instead, all the calculations are like 2 moles x 3.5 atm x 5 L. So much easier and faster.

Exactly. Plus it would be easy for people to cheat using programmable calculators, or too much of a hassle to make the testing centers inspect every calculator that comes in for any cheat sheets written on it, or it's just wasteful for them to spend thousands of your tax dollars to pay for new calculators to give out at each testing center. The math isn't that bad, if you passed 4th grade multiplication and division you'll be fine.

This. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that just knowing the equation was all I needed on almost all of my calculations. Don't sweat it! The QR section might be the toughest part for you if math isn't your strong point.
