Everyone on here has amazing scores it seems like.
I'm wondering does ADEA reveal what the nations average on the DAT is or was last year in 2009? are there any legit sources for this? I tried to google search it and I didnt get any reputable sources.
Or is this information not gathered?

average taker: 17
average applicant: 18
average matriculate: 19

roughly

I believe ADEA reported for 2009 that the average matriculated applicant had an AA/TS/PAT: 19.00/19.19/19.40

I got a 21 total science and the sheet they gave me as I walked out the door said that it was in the 96th percentile (if 100 people took the test, 96 scored at or below a 21 ts). This leads me to believe the hoards of people who claim a 25 total science are simply inflating their scores.

Just FYI, that percentile is only among the people who took that version of the test within a certain time period. So you really can't use it to compare among different people. That's why tests are standardized. And I do actually have a 24 TS😀

As I understand it, the DAT is scored on a curve. In the middle of the curve you may have to get several more questions correct to improve your score by a little. If you are ahead of the curve a single question may be the difference between several points in your final score. Check a scoring table; the ADA used to have one available with their sample test (may not be available for free anymore). This also explains why a 20 may be 95%. There are very few people who score above that. It makes me wonder how big of a difference there is between a 22 and a 25 to an adcom. The real difference is insignificant but 25 seems to look so much higher. The point is that many sdners are gunners, so their scores aren't the best measuring stick, and you don't know how the adcoms think. Just do your best. If the average (I'm assuming mean) matriculant scored 19 you can bet that plenty of 18's were in the mix to balance out the 20's. I know this has all been said before, but does it make sense?

Yes you are correct. The difference between a 30, 28, and 24 or 22, can't remember, in OC is the difference in 1 or 2 questions wrong in the whole section. So you are most definitely right that there is little difference between a 25 and 22 per se and who knows really how an adcom thinks of the two scores but either way they know that they KNOW that section.

There is also schools that put you in a formula such as UTHSCSA though. So even if you say adcom does not care, the computer cares, and it is always better to get higher.
