The only prep-course i know is Kaplan. The course is kinda expensive ($1500) but for me as a full time worker I found it actually helps me to study.

The best DAT prep course is the one that makes you study the most. A lot of people on this site put up a big stink about how expensive some test prep courses are. Obviously these people don't know how much dental school is going to cost! I took the kaplan course because it has the most problems to work on. I got 22s and 23s across the board on my dat. DAT destroyer is a good sidekick with lots of good problems to work on.
In short, it's always better to choose the course that will make you study harder instead of trying to scrimp for pennies.

I would not recommend coughing up so much money for courses...

Kaplan, which is like the only program, hires students like us who got good DAT scores... But we all know that DOESNT mean these individuals are particularly good at teaching....

Besides, a lot of these classes usually cover the surface material, and skip a lot of sections... They try to focus on "core" concepts, which are usually pretty easy to learn on your own. The instructors end up assigning ALOT of HOMEWORK and assign READINGS....

in conclusion... why pay so much when you can be your own instructor and ASSIGN yourself your own homeworks and readings....

SOme good materials would be DESTROYER, CrackDatPat, Kaplan Blue book, and Achiever

Lastly, Kaplan has a lot of good ONLINE material that one can only access if you pay something like $1200? This is probably the only expensive product on the market worth paying money for.... but dont waste your time with their class....

Kaplan does assign homework. That helped me to study a lot more than I would have without it. Some people are fine studying by themselves but that's not everyone. Kaplan had a lot of good material and practice questions and tests. So as far as courses go, I'd say kaplan, but I don't know of any other prep courses. Destroyer would also be a good addition to your study materials - that helped me a lot.

I think it is important to do well in your science classes and study hard during the semester. I scored 22s without ever taken a course and it wasn't too hard. My weakness was bio because I didn't have alot of bio courses under my belt. When you get ready to take the DAT pretty much everything should be a review.

i would suggest not taking a prep course but make a schedule for yourself. its the most effective.

Kaplan did not help me. I actually did worse on the real DATs (my first time) than my diagnostic test at Kaplan (so i got a full refund haha).
I think the important thing is to make sure you're well motivated and productive the entire time. Crack PAT, Destroyer, Topscore and a general Kaplan's DAT book should do it.
