What is the best way to decline an offer?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah you can put down more than one deposit but only for the 1st deposit. An adcom at one of the schools I interviewed at said once the 2nd deposit is due, schools share their lists with one another and so students can't hold 2nd deposits at more than one school.

Not necessarily true. You can put down more than one deposit. But I believe it's like by April 15 you must make a choice. (I could very well be wrong but my friend last year did that unless he lied to me or was mistaken)

I think it's by April 1st you can only have 1 seat locked in

Great thanks!

And do you just call the schools directly if you are declining an offer?

Email. I emailed the following:

Dear Admissions at [Dental School],

I am e-mailing to request for a withdrawal of my application and regretfully decline the [acceptance offer/waitlist] from [Dental School].

The following information is provided below as requested:
Name:
AADSAS ID
:
Reason:

Thank you for the opportunity to explore and learn more about your institution.

Kindest regards,

You may put more than one deposit down but will be required to choose one school by April.

Do you have to email? Or won't they just withdraw automatically after they see you have not deposited?

The professional thing to do would be to email them if you know you will not be attending. That way they can invite the next person. Think if you were in that next person's shoes, wouldn't you want to know ASAP instead of stressing out?!

Will do! But is it necessary to tell them the reason why?

I want to withdraw from one of the school but I was wait listed there.
In that case, how do I withdraw from the wait list? Sending them an email??
I haven't received any emails or mail from them.

In mine I just said that I accepted an offer at another school. I declined three offers and two of the schools followed up asking which school I was attending. I just told them that I was deciding between two other schools (which is true) so I gave them those names but not a final answer.

What about declining interviews? I have two invited to interviews after getting into my #1 choice(in state school)

i emailed and said that i got into another school and that i needed to cancel my interview.
i got an e-mail almost right away thanking me for letting them know very soon.

You don't have to give a reason, they know you probably just picked another school. I would be gracious in your email, thank them for the opportunity but you have decided on another school. They know not everyone is going to accept their offer. Don't stress about this.
