What is the meaning of pre and post- secondary?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Before and after the secondary applications are submitted.

Sorry, but I don't really understand what a secondary application is.. let me know if I'm warm:
- so once I submit the AMCAS application the school checks it out
- if the school likes, I will be given a post secondary? ie. another application to fill out?

You're on the right track. Some schools send automatic secondaries. Others screen applicants first. In either case, secondaries aren't free. You have to pay the schools a secondary application fee. The amount varies.

HumidBeing... tackling the thread all by your lonesome...

OP: yes, you submit your AMCAS, then schools will either screen your application and send you a secondary or they will automatically send you one. If they screen your application and do not select you to receive a secondary, you are rejected before the secondary (hence, pre-secondary). Otherwise, you send in the secondary and a fat 75-100 dollar check and you hope for an interview invite.
