If a dental school have averages 21AA, 21TS, and 20PAT, then can you get 20AA, 20TS, and 18PAT on your DAT and still be competitive for that you (assuming you have GPA of 3.8)?

A couple admissions ppl told me you need a 20 AA / 20 TS to be competitive when I informally asked. I was under the assumption that 20/20 is slightly above average? I thought averages were like 19AA 19 TS. Other than DAT scores though, there's many other factors involved. My roommate's friend got into NYU I heard with 3.4gpa 17AA. I guess he did really well in the interview or something.
