thanks for ur advice

1 - Should I call the PC and/or PD to thank them and ask them the process moving forward.

2 - Wait till I get a call or email from the PC.

Please advice.

thanks

Either option is considered acceptable, it really depends on your personality type. It will depend on your program, but many of the next steps will probably come through the Graduate Medical Education office. There will be forms and contracts and health care plans. Some of that stuff takes a while and you may start to freak out, but just relax, make sure they have your correct contact info and enjoy the 3 months before residency!

Also, your real first step should be to celebrate matching! Get off SDN and party in whatever form is acceptable to you.

Dude, take a chill pill already. Go have a beer. Take a vacation. Plan your move, if you are moving. Your part is done.

The program coordinators deal with this every year and their To-Do list probably just got a lot longer after finding out the match results (on top of the usual administrative work with their current residents). So sit tight - they are well aware of what the next steps are and will be contacting you with a lot of paperwork to fill out over the next months.

For those who will be dealing with visas, your program should also include contact information for their Training Program Liaison (who deals specifically with getting DS-2019s every year from ECFMG) in the package that they send to you. While you are waiting, you might want to look at the process for getting a Statement of Need from your country of legal permanent residence.

Since I have a plan for international travel next month, just wondering when should I expect to start the paperwork? Should I ask the medical education office?

You are already in. You don't have to impress anyone anymore. Personally, I would wait until they contact you. The issue of being away internationally for a month is an interesting one - I think that might be a time when I would contact the program coordinator to let them know this and see if there is anything you need to do. Might wait a day or two though until things calm down a bit.

Part of this is going to depend on how long you plan on being gone. If it's a week or two, then it's going to be less of an issue because you can just deal with the filling of forms when you get back. If it's longer than that, then perhaps a forwarding address is in order.

As part of my fellowship paperwork I got a form for a occupational drug screen test which I had to complete within 3 days of receipt of the form. I didn't encounter anything like this for residency. So yeah, let the coordinator know in case strict deadlines like this exist for your program.

Did anyone else read "pogrom?"

Does anyone else find that more apropos?
