i am trying to figure out what the deal is: there is a thread on here which i am sure many have read concerning calling NOVA in the near future to get an unofficial 👍 👎. at a recent interview, i spoke with a woman who interviewed at nova last year in mid-october. she informed me that during her interview she was told that they had filled all of their primary seats and she was basically interviewing for the alternate list IN MID-OCTOBER!!!!! i have had this interview scheduled for over a month, so this isn't some last minute thing where i was called up and they worked me in.

so, if it is true that you can call soon and get this unofficial 👍 👎 that looks suspiciously like this woman was correct. if there are 2 months b/t now and dec. 1st and this statement about an unofficial acceptance is correct, then how could they not have already filled their primary class? how can they still have 2 months of interviews left and be telling people "yes" or "no" if they haven't even seen 2 months worth of interviewees unless they are now interviewing for the alternate list?

i am very confused about this. first, i think the fact that a school would so blatantly break from the dec. 1 agreement is totally unethical. second, if this school does in fact treat applicants in such a manner, i wonder how they treat their actual dental students??!! this entire situation seems shady and wrong. i seriously hope that there is no validity to these rumors b/c it does not shed this school in such a great light, IMO.

thoughts? comments?

I do not understand why they would do this, My interview is not till Jan 3, though I do not know if I will be going or not. And predents.com list some great applicants having interviews after me also. I don't understand how they work, by dentist says great things about the school, but in mulitple books and lectures that I have read they say the Nova, UNLV, and Arizona are not schools you will want to attend-too new and does not have a lot of full time faculty (they bring in a lot of people for a week or two) and some of those schools are trying alter/change their clinics operations.

So with your other interview I would not worry about this one-but it does suck if they have filled their seats before your interview and you are wasting money and time going out there

agreed. i am going to check with someone i know tomorrow who graduated recently from nova to see if they can shed some light on the subject. i will let you know what i find out. 🙂

I have never heard of this rumor about calling and finding out if you've been accepted or not. I interviewed at Nova at the end of November last year and was accepted a week and a half later. As far as not having enough full time faculty, that's totally bogus. We have no faculty problems here because retired dentists that move to Florida want something to do. And just because they retired from private practice doesn't mean that they are old, many of them are maybe in their 50's.

thank you, that is very helpful 🙂

I have a dumb question. I have an interview at Nova next week and I never received a schedule of the days events. My invite letter only says that my interview is at 11:45. Does anyone know if I'm supposed to be there earlier or is that the time I'm supposed to be there. If anyone who has interviewed there or has an interview there knows the answer I would really appreciate it. Thanks

i called about the same thing 😀 , i also thought it was unclear. i found out that the arrival time is in fact 11:45am, you will have lunch and then your interviews will be in the afternoon. hope that helps and best of luck, :luck:

Hey thanks alot, That makes me feel better. Good luck in your interviews🙂

11:45 is correct

You will eat and tour until 1pm. Then Financail aid, then interviews. Dr. lippman is a stud, pray you interview with him. Mine was 15 minutes long. Piece of cake interview. I was done and back to my hotel by 2:30pm. On the beach by 2:45, then caught my flight the next morning.

Best of luck
