What is your favorite animal?

Not weird at ALL -- crows and pigeons are my favorite birds. They have so much personality!

Dogs are #1.

I like little sandfish lizards. They're the cutest pet you'll never see. After they're dead, you can still convince people you have one by moving the poop around the cage.

Horses are awesome, especially foals.

There are lots of animals I'd like experience with, but aren't so easy to meet face-to-face: lemurs, penguins, etc.

Some of my favorite experiences were when I was meeting those sorts of animals face to face...While working at the Central Park Zoo in their clinic i filled in for the Penguin house and helped feed the penguins. They can be crazy little creatures and come up and nip at you when food is involved! While zoo animals are a bit different - I did spend 3 weeks in Africa for a course. We got to pet a cheetah (i was going nuts), and take lots of safaris. I can tell you, for anyone who can even just appreciate animals no less want to make their lives work with them, its amazing! The impalas, the zebras, the rhinos, the giraffes (we got to feed them), the lions around the bush when you have to get out of your van because its stuck. 😱 Definitely some cool animals too see up close and personal and so much better in their natural habitat.

I have to say I can't pick a favorite animal. Boring I know. But everyone is so cool in their own way. I love cats and dogs, but there is so much amazingness in big cats, and giraffes, and horses, and rabbits, and omg i could go on and on! Haha oh well!
 
Lemurs - I like to go see them. For some reason, when I've gone to the zoo to see them, they've fallen asleep. Apparently, I have a somnolent effect on them.


Capybaras - Come on! World's largest rodent! Gotta love 'em!
They are considered to be fish during lent. Don't plan on eating one, though.

Nice choices! I went to Duke undergrad, and our primate center is full of lemurs. In fact, it's pretty much all lemurs. And going out with free-ranging lemurs was pretty much one of my coolest experiences in undergrad.
 
Wow, tough question because I have so many! Horses, because they are such a beautiful synergy of power and grace. All birds, because who wouldn't want to be able to fly? Old English Sheepdogs, because they really do seem to have a sense of humor. Cats, because they cuddle up next to you and purr. Bottle nose dolphins, because I had one swim up to me once when I was scuba diving in Hawaii and display astonishing intelligence and curiosity. Pet rats, because they are the complete opposite of the stereotypes associated with "vermin" (i.e., they are intelligent, social, affectionate, curious, don't bite, are incredibly fastidious about grooming and are hilarious with their antics). But I guess my absolute favorite would be the mountain lion -- if you have ever been lucky enough to see one, you have had an encounter with North America's only big cat. They are majestic and amazing.
 
I also love lemurs...I think I just like to say their names over and over.
 
The only animals I DON'T like in some way are crickets and mosquitoes.

I suppose though my favorite normal pet animal would have to be a dog.

My favorite exotic pet is a snake, particularly New World Sunbeams and Corn snakes.

My favorite wild animals is the Tiger Shark.

Yeah, I'm weird. 🙄

This thread went on before I joined... lame I know. My favorite animal is kind of obvious, given my user name. I am definitely 100% a cat person... like I had cats on my walls and on my clothes, I had stickers and books... I even had a subscription to Cat Fancy when I was about 10. I just cut out the pictures I liked and stuck them up EVERYWHERE... my room was insane when I was little.

It's hard to believe that I only have two cats so far... my husband might have something to do with that...
 
I love anything feline. Dobermans, rats, goats and skunks fill out the rest of my favorites.

Horses and birds freak me out a bit - I'm just not quite sure how to read them.

I'm not a fan of rabbits or mice - after you get used to the intelligence of rats, other rodents/lagamorphs just don't compare.
 
I'd have to go with dogs, and horses. Your dog will be happy to see you regardless of the circumstances and horses are the most majestic of all animals in my opinion.

Least favorite is the iguana, I was bitten in the face by one many years ago requiring numerous stitches. They give me the heebie geebies now, I hope I don't have to deal with too many in Vet school......😳
 
Cats (especially the purring, drooly ones), goats, guinea pigs, sea otters, chickens (Polish & Silkies rock!), crows....
 
WOLVES! My very very favorite. 😍

My favorite breeds of dogs are Belgian Malinois and Siberian huskies. The Malinois are pretty similar in personality to me actually...for better or worse! 🙄

I love horses, falcons and hawks, some of the big cats, and snakes! Here's one of my snakes. She's a lovely jungle carpet python with a not always lovely attitude. 😀 Guppy73, I also like chickens! When we get a fence in, I really want some! I've never had them, so I think I'll try some nice Buff Orpingtons to start with. Plus their name is cool.

YAY A bird person.

I love macaws. Personality. Beauty. Intelligence.

I have to say though; amazons are absolutely amazing. Tough to handle at sexual maturity, easy body language, and you have to be confident to get within 200 feet of one! =P Haha.

I do love Caiques for the smaller birds though. VERY playful!

Dachshunds are the best dogs ever. Period.

Fennic foxes. I just met two the other day. They're one of my favorites. Lizards. Love 'em. and Virginia Oppossum. I raised two at the clinic last summer and my oh my. They were hilarious!
 
I think if I got a parrot, it'd probably be a blue headed or Maximillian pionus. They're not too needy, not too loud, can talk a bit, and are quite intelligent. Neat birds!

Wild: Wolves and bald eagles

Domestic: Cows, horses, dogs....and I guess I better say cats since I have 3 😛

wildlife: manatees! Ever since I went down to Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park in Florida in 8th grade, I have been fascinated by manatees (have a tattoo of one on my back)

Domestic: definitely DOGS - particularly fond of the hounds, but I love 'em all. No tattoos of them...there are too many that I'd want, I'd be covered!

Yay tattoos (and manatees)!!!! I have my two dogs that I had to put to sleep two years ago on my ankles. (plus many others...hehe) My next planned tattoo is the paw print of the critter in my avatar. Was going to go on my forearm, but at 10 weeks his foot was already so big that it would wrap around the sides, so I'm thinking it'll go on the top of my foot.
