I just received the bill for my first semester. I thought it might be interesting to see how varied the charges are for different schools. Here are mine along with the name of my school. (Does not include books of course)

University of Central Arkansas
Fall 2011 - $5070

Soooooo, what's yours?

$727 in general fees + cadaver lab fee + liability insurance. This is after my waiver is applied.

Oh, this is qtr pricing not semester.

Well don't be shy about posting your school. The purpose of the thread is to show the variations in tuition/fees of different schools.

Well, the estimated total tuition for TWU Houston is about $29,000. We just got our booklist and man, 15+ texts?! What the heck are we supposed to do with all those??? I just got the required ones, so I only have to pay for 11-13 books... If I got the whole list, it would've run me $1,000+. It cost me $400 (after finding 1 or 2 of them online *cough* and buying from ebay and Amazon...)...

>.<

Pitt runs 9,000/semester (fall, spring, summer). You do get stipend 18000 your third year which is a full time year long clinical.

7,000 for the first semester (Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions). 8 semester program, 60k total, or so.

mtm, that is awesome! I like the idea of a stipend for the last year!

It's cool and it helps bring the total cost down into the 60's which I feel is semi-reasonable considering how much PT schools cost. They make out alright though... third year students in outpatient see about 10ish pts. everyday and only make 1500/month! You can do the math but all the clinics are Pitt afilliated so they end up making some loot off of the students.... nonetheless its awesome to have a year of actual experience at the time you graduate.

Tuition is ~$9000 per term, three terms per calendar year for Franklin Pierce (this is available on their web site). This excludes the cost of books and supplies and the other first year requirements (CPR/AED cert, First Aid cert, immunizations, etc.).

Tuition for NIU for the first semester is $4800. It's based on number of credits so this varies slightly. Tuition is waived in the summer between 2nd and 3rd year and the 3rd spring semester since we will be spending the majority of our time at our clinical sites.

Either...

Touro College-Bay Shore
$11,950 x 6 semesters

or

Hampton University
$18,000/year x 3 years

I need to decide soon.

Jbizzle even though this is really your decision, I'd recommend thinking hard about Hampton U based on the 20G difference. Something about the bigbox for-profit health profession universities I can't get down with... Reminds me of the LECOM business. Seems like their build around turning around student loan money from their creation. Atleast Hampton has some real history behind it.
Unless the feel of a southern HBCU would make you absolutely miserable (not that it should, I wouldn't mind!), I don't see how Bay Shore would be preferable. Only slightly redeeming thing about Bay Shore is that its remotely by New York on Long Island. Even then the commute to the City would be so far that point may be moot.

Chatham University is around ~$9,000 per semester... 7 semesters total. I'm estimating around $68k total.

Wow, I really respect that they can keep the tuition so low, and then waive tuition during clinicals.
Most schools charge full tuition. I can see some fees being involved for site verification, coordination etc.
I know it's an essential and valuable learning experience. But most DPT students I saw when I was volunteering were actually being quite productive. So basically, working for free, and paying a huge sum of money on top.
Seems very odd...

I'm jealous; there was no way that I calculated it, even with talking with people that it was going to cost me ~60k to go to Pitt. For incoming 2011 it was something a little over $27k per year. It was more like slightly over $80k. And I could've sworn the stipend was only like 15k total (1250 a month is what I was told)... It's been so long since I did the math, I don't really remember.... I didn't take off the 15k from cost of tuition, because there's no way I'd be putting that money right back into school loans, I'd be using it towards cost of living.

But you are right, you can't beat the entire year of experience before going off into the real world. I'm sure the connections that you make are awesome! But, I'm really happy with my personal decision.

Did you start the PT program in June? How do you like it?? 🙂

I'm a 2nd year now, I have friends at Chattam and they seem to make it a much more enjoyable overall experience for their students i.e. no class fridays. Good luck to you.

That's awesome, I didn't realize you were a 2nd year! Wahoo! 1 down and 2 to go! 🙂 Awesome! (And one away from that stipend! Woo!)

As far as the no classes on Fridays go, I know that it's a definite the 1st semester, but I don't think it's that way all the time.

Yeah, I never quite understood that either. I'm guess I lucked out!

Ok, so I know I shouldn't complain because overall my school is very cheap. But, I just looked at my account for the fall... I have $900 in fees for the first semester!!! $120 Athletic fee, $125 technology fee, $130 facility fee, $250 gross anatomy fee and $250 graduate fee. I was expecting some fees, but I was thinking it would be more around $300 total. What are your fees? Does this seem excessive to you??

😱😱 Wow! That's a lot of fees!! I just have 2, the college fee of $200 and then combined lab/liability insurance $160. I also lied... my tuition & fees is closer to 9600 than 9000... Whoops. Oh well, I've just accepted that it will be debt and I'll just work hard to pay it off quickly when I'm done, because I want to do something I love!!! 😉

University of Utah
$5500 (summer/part time) $7500 (fall)
This is in-state tuition.

I'll be starting my second year at Mizzou in the fall. Tuition and fees are running about $400/credit hour. This fall I am scheduled for 18 hours at a cost of $7200. This summer the university waived the fees for me because I was doing a clinical and not on campus.
