What do you think it means to get no response after sending post-interview Thank You email to your interviewers?

Have any of you received a response after sending an email before?

Last year, I had an interview at UCSF and I never received a response from him after sending a Thank You email. And then several months later I was rejected. So now Im paranoid. haha

I personally don't think that thank you notes have much of an impact on your application... it's definitely a nice gesture, and I'm sure they appreciate it, but it probably won't make or break or application.

Oops sorry I realized I only commented on the second part of your post!
But, yeah I agree with the poster below me, in regards to your first question.

i don't think a thank you to your thank you is necessary, especially for busy adcoms, no worries!

haha I wouldn't read into it too much. I think it's pretty uncommon to hear anything back after a thank you note. I got one response and was pretty surprised.

Interviewers are usually staff and are very busy with the school. Don't worry if they don't reply to a thank you note.

i wouldn't read into it too much. these people are exceptionally busy, and probably receive like 50 emails a day. yours would be the lowest priority to respond to.

that is, unless you said something really weird in the email. what did you say exactly?

thats the policy. most people do not respond to thank you letters, even during job interviews. ive sent out probably 100 or more in my lifetime and have gotten back a response just once. That doesnt mean much, as long as they accept you 😀
