What kind of actions can get you kicked out of medical school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Cheating, Theft, pretty much any felony I would assume. Failing all of your classes more than twice. I think pretty much all these things are obvious.

I am a curious as to your reason for asking this question, are you anticipating getting kicked out? Just curious.

Why would it matter if it was a state or private school?

There is no way to answer this question without a little more info. Each school is different and sets different guidelines regarding what is required to pass each year, how remediation is handled and what results in failure/expulsion from school. Are you asking about academic reasons or other reasons for expulsion?

Some schools let cheating go.. unless you Admit to doing so or they have tons of proof..

Reasoning= De-railing med student in 3rd or 4th year because of suspected cheating on one test can lead to lawsuits dealing with the investment of all that time or money only to be kicked out of med school and have no future earnings.. all because your answers seem to be identical to the person next to you exam but not your exam.. (statistically unlikely.. but not impossible.. which lawyers would pounce on) .. Undergrad cheating cases are harder to sue the institution for though..

You'll be surprised. Something similar actually happened between a resident and dean's daughter after a heavy night of drinking.

the possession, exchange, or use of illegal / controlled substances
stealing or destroying university property
lying, cheating, publishing false information, plagiarism...
and anything else that that little voice in your head might say "no" to...
