anyone else get this question in their supplemental apps? What are admissions committees really looking for here? I think this is a horrible question.

I think it's a great question. It gives you a chance to tell adcom your abilities and why they should pick you over other applicants.

Most. BS. Question. Ever.

The application process doesn't exactly encourage unique pursuits. There are all these "recommendations" for you to do that would help you get into D-school, so 90% of applicants end up being extremely similar.

Some sort of science major, possibly a Business minor, with upper level bio courses, for extracurricular you're in some philanthropic student organizations, maybe a sport...

The stats don't lie. The people who get into D-school generally look a certain way on paper. And then they try and pretend like they want people who are unique! Everyone ends up nitpicking at the little details to try to stand out... "Well, I've played piano/violin since forever!" Ya know what, they're probably a dozen other applicants who have also...

Oh, but you don't want to look too unique, you might look like you're not interested enough in dentistry...

/omg how did that turn into such a hateful rant, lol
