I'm submitting my primary tonight, and I want your thoughts on my MD school list.

Connecticut resident
3.66 cGPA 3.43 sGPA (I think my MD sGPA might go up to as high as 3.5, but it will be between 3.4-3.5.)
13/11/11= 35 MCAT

-100 hours of clinical research in an ER as part of a class
-100 hours of shadowing physicians (ER DO, Orthopedic Surgeon DO, Podiatrist)
~200 hours of volunteer EMT work since January
-I work as a substitute teacher currently
-I've worked for a local police department enforcing town ordinances the past four summers and got a solid LOR from it
-Various leadership positions throughout college (fraternity and junior year dorm)

-Solid LOR from work, solid LOR from Economics professor, ok LOR from chemistry. I don't know how my overall committee letter went. It was a very difficult interview for me, but I'm hoping my solid LORs from people who know me will outweigh some silly committee evaluation. DO Letter as well

UConn (resident)
GWU (alma mater)
Qunnipiac
Georgetown
Loyola
Rush
Rosalind Franklin
Wake Forest
Mercer
VCU
Commonwealth PA
Penn State
MC Wisconsin
Albany
NYMC
Temple
Eastern Virginia
Vermont

Touro Harlem
PCOM
MSU COM
Nova
KCUMB

Is my list "bottom-heavy" enough? Should I add/get rid of any schools?

Oops, subtract Mercer, add Marshall

What is wrong with people on SDN? A 35 is 95th percentile. Most of these schools will reject you because your MCAT score is too high.

Drop all the DO schools if unless you actually want to be a DO. Drop a bunch of lower-end schools you don't really want to attend. Add a bunch of middle tier schools and some higher end ones as well.

A list that shoots too low is just as ineffectual as one that aims too high. A right sized list captures the schools that are most likely to interview you. If a school has no reason to believe that you will matriculate when you get into a higher ranked or cheaper school, they will not interview you!

Thanks, would you recommend me applying to all 30+ of those schools? I've already applied to ~20, but not any of the mid/high tiers like BU, Tufts, USC, or Darmouth.
