i take the mcat tomorrow. my gpa is 3.66 / science 3.55, great LORs, lots of volunteer, shadowing, work experience, great EC's, etc...

I just want a chance at an interview, and I know everyone will say "shoot for a 45." but realistically, what will be a "safe" score to get an interview? I ask because I've been doing decent on the first 5 practice tests (27-31) but the last one I took, I barely got a 24. if this were to happen tomorrow, (or worse), what should I expect?

haha. i just got done reading that thread. yea, pretty similar question. only one of em mentioned kcumb, but i'll just go to the mdapplicants... thanks!

I don't like to associate the concept of "safe" with scores/GPA, and I'm hesitant about citing scores, or ranges, and implying that scoring in a given range means anything. Basically, you can use average statistics of a school as a reference point, but keep in mind that scoring, or having a GPA, in the range of the average statistics of a given school doesn't necessary mean you'll get an interview, although I'm sure there is some relationship. Numbers are certainly important to the application process, but there are many more components to an application than numbers. While it certainly behooves an applicant to score well and have a higher GPA, this condition doesn't necessarily guarantee anything. So, in summary, there are no guarantees in the application process. Strive to make all the parts of your application as outstanding as possible, do what you can, and see where it takes you.

Anyway, that said, here are the statistics for KCUMB, Class of 2011:

Number of Students: 251
Average Age: 24
Number of Men: 126
Number of Women: 125

Average MCAT: 8.75
Average GPA: 3.60
Average SGPA: 3.49
