Hi fellow pre-dental students, i am currently a freshman in a bad position.

I went to a CC my first semester and then i changed school to a four year institution. During my semester at the CC. i had a W in a class. i decided to retake this class this summer, or next year to remove the W.

I was shocked that the Community college removed this class from her catalogue and this class was effective and will not be taught anymore!!

I want to ask what should i do in my case, how can i retake this class, and how it will looks for dental school admission that i have a W on my transcript.

What was the class?

One class isn't going to get you in or out no matter what class it is. Also, retaking it doesn't remove it. You still show withdrawals when you apply.

Don't worry about it but make sure you fix why you had to withdraw.

English as a second language
As the other poster said above, retaking the class does not remove the "W" from the transcript. A few withdrawals will not kill your application provided you are a well rounded applicant with stellar stats.

Have you taken Freshman English I and II? These are required for the majority of schools, if not all of them.

i took English I, and got A-
I am planning to take English II next year

Dont worry too much about it, just have a good upward trend on your grades, so from now on try to get at least B+ or higher and you will be fine. The grade of W would still show up on your transcript regardless of retaking or not.

How can a W affect my admission to dental school and how dental schools look to a W on transcript ?!

They look at over all GPA and trend. Good grades and upward trend will be what offsets the W.
