Hi I’m a high school senior that has just graduated and will be attending UCSD in the fall. What should I do over the summer that could help my future medical school applications? Here are some ideas I have:
-shadowing
-scribing
-maybe hospital volunteer

All I’m doing rn is lifeguarding, so looking for some other activities I could do over the summer that would help beef up my end school apps. Thanks.

Look into getting an EMT or CNA certification at a local community college.

Find a research lab! The earlier you start the more productive you can be. Also, make volunteering a habit. Start by spending 4-6 hrs weekly doing both clinical and non clinical volunteering. If you’re especially ambitious, you can prestudy. I recommend Organic Chemistry as a Second Language by David Klein. It’ll help you get acquainted with college level coursework.
Good Luck!

Begin volunteering, especially if you can continue during college. Try to find shadowing near your school.
