I am a senior in high school this year. My grades were decent, but i am ultimately going to a community college. I am very intrested in biology and think I would do best in that major. I want to transfer to UCD but you have to do some pre-reqs for med-school to transfer. So would these classes hurt my chances? Could I just take upper level science after I transfer, or should I try to find a different major?

Try to do most of your gen ed requirements that you will have to fulfill at UCD while you are attending community college. Try to avoid taking your lab science courses at cc, as this isn't encouraged by medical schools (lab sciences are generally less intense at cc's).

Your community college isn't likely to offer upper level classes regardless of your major, so all of your upper levels (cell bio, genetics, o-chem, micro, etc for a bio major) would have to taken at UCD. Just remember to major in something you enjoy and could turn into a career in case getting into med school doesn't go as planned.

EDIT: Microbiology may be upper level or lower level depending on your school.
