okay, i am going to be a JUNIOR this August

So i should take the DAT next year right ? like in may 2011 ?

and when does the AADSAS application start ?

i am new so bare with me lol

Take it this summer, as you will regret that the fact that you have study the DAT and your classes simultaneously if you are planning to take it during May.

I took my DAT May 10th, and it was a hellish experience studying for classes and the DAT at the same time.

I highly recommend you get it out of the way this summer so you will be completely ready by the time that AADSAS opens up next year so you can be an early applicant.

If you are planning to take a year off, though, you can wait until next summer, I guess.

But just apply 3rd year so you can chillax and get some B's in your senior year

i dont know if i am ready yet, i always thought its best to take after junior year and then apply.

When does the app. cycle begin ?

The cycle opens up in early June. If I were you, I'd take the DAT by winter/early spring before the cycle begins. That way, if you need to retake the DAT, you have plenty of time to do it. Plus, you'll have the DAT out of the way to take care of other application stuff so you can apply early when the cycle begins.

Anytime before <june 2011 You should be in great shape.

Do not rush it. Make sure you are well prepared before tackling the exam.

I'd even say early July is fine as long as you get your app in early June... That way you get an extra month to study outside school if that's hard for you

But if you can do it during school, earlier is always better 😛

Its definitely best to take it while you have ochem fresh in your head. I unfortunately the procrastinator that I am waited until after I graduated to study and take it all in one month which meant I had to relearn all of the ochem and gchem that was long gone from my memory banks. If you have taken ochem, gchem, physio, cell bio, and basically every other lower div bio course that they make you take during freshman and sophmore year you should be fine studying for a month or two. But definitely do not take it the summer you apply which will be next year im guessing because it puts lots of stress. If you didn't know already the application process usually starts in early june this year I think it was the 3rd.

okay, i think i will take it in december 2010 and if i dont like the score, then i have enough time to retake again before applying

do ppl usually take the DAT twice before applying ?

and do schools usually pick the best DAT score u get or do they average them both or something ?

Taking it once is seen better, but twice is not a problem. Schools pick the latest DAT score, I believe. Not the best score nor the average.
