I just finished taking the DAT for my third and final attempt.

PAT 21
QR 18
RC 25
Bio 26
GC 24
OC 26
TS 26
AA 24

Science GPA 3.56
Cum GPA 3.37

I have applied twice already and I really didn't care where I would go. I just wanted to get friggin accepted! Now that I have these scores I realize that I have some options. Where should I apply to? Does it really matter where you go in the grand scheme of things?

Apply to 23 schools, worked for me 🙂 hehe.

In all seriousness, check out the sticky about what schools to apply to, and put together at least 15 or more if you're desperate and money permitting. Your stats are amazing, so just go and get that application in ASAP, like today.

Thanks for the reply!
As far as potential income post grad... Does it matter which school I go to?

no. Most of your patients will not know or care what school you graduated from.
Unless you want some specific research follow above response advice. Great job!

So Here's the schools I have narrowed it down to. Any thoughts?

MCG
USC
UoP
NOVA
Loisville
Boston
Tufts
NYU
Columbia
Temple

I have spent all day searching through SDN to narrow this list down even further. Apparently USC is a definate no, NOVA has problems w/ student to chair ratio and faculty, Temple is in an unsafe neighborhood, and when comparing Columbia to NYU it seems as though NYU has a larger patient pool and has a cooler location.

So my modified list is as follows:
MCG
UoP
Louisville
Boston
Tufts
NYU

I would like to send out my AADSAS today so I would greatly appreciate any advice. Oh, and what about UPENN? On SDN it seems like people either love UPENN or hate it.

Nice Scores!.....Are you a Georgia resident???----If not, you can scratch off MCG off your list b/c they only accept in-state residents...

What do you mean narrow?! You need to apply to MORE schools. Also know that you're applying pretty late. Pacific may already be out of the question because they interview early. Great scores, but why so late?

I am a Georgia resident, and I'm applying a little late bc I wanted to wait until I took the DAT again. Last year I applied to 22 schools and that took a huge chunk out of my pocket. That is why I am trying to narrow it down this year. Is it really too late? Should I apply to more schools just in case? This is my third time around and I just don't want to make any mistakes this time. I REALLY want to start dental school!

personally i wouldn't go by whether others "love it or hate it." you're never gonna know how you feel about it unless you experience it for yourself. it seems like a great school. it's in a cool city. go for it!

and like armorshell said, it is getting kindof late. you can be picky, but don't get TOO picky!

edit: just don't let this time's mistake, if you're going to make one, to be not applying to enough schools!

I felt pretty confident a couple of days ago, but to be honest now I'm kinda freaking out. It's late and I still don't know where I should apply to. I am broke and can only afford applying to 6 schools on AADSAS. Considering how late in the game it is... Which schools should I apply to??

Which schools are you thinking about? Give us a list and we can narrow it down for you. I think you should apply to your state school. It might be a little late for you to apply to Nova or Case since they have given out a lot of interviews already.

Applying this late *is* a mistake. Applying to more than 6 schools will be expensive, but applying again for a 4th year is going to be WAY more expensive.

Congrat's on your DAT scores! I am reading everyone's post with a frown since I am reading it's "so late" now in the application pool. Gosh, I have yet to apply myself, but that's because I still need to take the DAT and get some additional shadowing! Now I begin to wonder if I should just wait to apply next yr instead.... has anyone taken the DAT late in the application process like Sept or Oct, still applied and got in?? With the cost of applications, I really would not like to spend all that money and not get a chance because it's late in the game! Any comments!?! I am a non-traditional applicant by the way with a Master's degree!

i think it can go either way. my friend applied last year to 4 schools. took her DAT on September 13th. got a 24/24/21. the schools were UCSF, UoP, UCLA, and Harvard. She got interviews at all 4. Accepted at 3, and waitlisted at Harvard. I think you should be in good standing. Her GPA was 3.8 though.
