It depends on how the school handles the waitlist. I was on a waitlist from a school that assigns you a rating value. There was NO way you could change the rating you had recieved from their committee. So all you could do was hope they had alot of people not accept their offers of acceptances. It basically stinks
Try a letter of intent, let them know that they are your #1 choice and if you get in you'll withdrawl your apps from other schools. Do a search for letter of intent if you want more 411, it's been discussed befor.

Don't become disappointed. There are some great schools out there. Keep interviewing. Even though Hopkins is #2, go and look at schools that will be the best fit for you. If you do this, you will enjoy this process more & you might even get into Hopkins without worrying about it for the next couple of months. Good luck!
