what to do for follow up

I just came back from a job interview. The dentist is really nice, showing me around his office and even taking me out for lunch🙂. It was embarrassing since i forgot my wallet at home🙁. He paid before I even tried to say something. That was the bad part and I hope it would not affect anything. My question is what should I do to follow up? send a thank you note tonight, or call to say thank you? should i just wait for his decision or when would be a good time for me to ask ? I am anxious since I really want this opportunity and please give me some advice. Thanks in advance!

I would write a really personal thank you note, including what you liked or why you think you would be a good fit for you. To top it off, hand deliver it to the dentist tomorrow. It will give you the opportunity to talk to him again, thank him for lunch again, and if it were me, I would ask if I could follow up in a week to see if he's made a decision with his associate position. If he needs more time, he'll tell you and you won't be worrying the whole time.

Hand delivering it might be a little much, since the doctor will most likely be busy seeing patients. I sent hand written thank you cards if I did an in person interview.

If this is a concern, call the front desk and ask when the doc has a break in the sched and tell them why... If he doesn't have an opening, they might tell you when lunch is and to stop by then.

Remember you're trying to set yourself apart from everyone else... it's one thing to send a thank you note. It's a step above to deliver it and thank him in person.
