I am still on the waiting list, any idea as to what I should do if they rejected me?
Here are what I have thought of so far, but not sure which is the right one or if it's incomplete:
- gradschool (thesis-based)
- gradschool (course-based)
- undergrad (new degree)
- job
- volunteer/extracurricular
- travel
I am not sure about gradschool because eventhough I have some exposure and interest in research, I only ever see it as a secondary option and would consider it only after I get my MD if I wanna be an academic physician.
In terms of undergrad, is it worth it? Should I take a course to boast marks (my GPA is ~3.6)? or take it for interest and risk having a lower GPA? I was planning to go into English since I realized how much my English sucked when I do my verbal on the MCAT. But at least both grad and undergrad has the advantage that I can continune to live off OSAP, eventhough if the loan will end up being a ****load at the end, but I am sure with a MD I can pay it off. Then again only if get a master or another bachelor will significantly increase my chance to get into medschool
Getting a job is not very promising because not only if Ihave to start repaying my OSAP (I hate to keep mentioning money as a factor, but it really does play a huge role in my situation), but what kinda job can a B.Sc get????
I definitely need to do some more volunteer work to boast up my extracurricular list, but what is there to do? I already have volunteered at the local hospital. I really dont mind working for no cash, as long as it's something that medschool wants. What kinda of worthwhile and fun EC can I do for a whole straight year that can greatly increase my chance to medschool??
In terms of travel, that's by far my fav option =), but also my parents' worst, since they think I am merely just wasting time and being a jobless bump. Is there anything one can do during travel that's beneficial for admission to medschool??
Please, any advices will be greatly appreciated!!
