Hey Everyone,

I am new to this pre dental forum and have been thrilled with how much information I am receiving. However, I am still unsure about what to do if you are rejected your first, second, or even third time? What did those of you who got rejected at some point in between applying do to help your chance of being accepted? After doing lots of browsing on this site, it looks like the acceptance numbers are a lot lower than the applicant numbers. I am super worried that there is a good chance I will not be accepted to any of the schools I apply to the first time around. I'm not at all a bad student, I'm just trying to be realistic. Any tips for me if I do get rejected the first time around? Also, how many times is too many to apply? When should you just throw in the towel and apply at Burger King? 😉

Do an SDN search for something like 'how many application cycles before you were accepted'. I started one a while ago and so did someone else. Basically, what those threads will tell you is that it's never too late. I finally got in this year during my fifth application cycle. Just do anything you can to improve between cycles and you will eventually tip the scales in your favor.

Don't worry, there are tons of us out there like you. Stick with it, your persistence will pay off. Speak to as many Deans of Admissions as you can and figure out what is holding your application back. Do you need more shadowing hours? Low GPA? There are ways to remedy anything, you just need focus and a stick-with it attitude. Don't let anybody get you down.

Thank you for the encouragement! I'll look into the other threads mentioned.
