Just feeling really crappy from the situation. Been tough just pushing through a post-bacc and trying to apply again for the 2nd time for this cycle.

Not trying to be rude but what is the purpose of this thread?
You have already been given solid advice.
1. Don't do an SMP (from the looks of it DO is probably your best bet so SMP is a waste)
2. Take advantage of grade replacement
3. Work on your extracurricular activities after you have taken care of # 2 (grades come first for now...)
4. Stats gets you IIs and ECs/interview prep help you get through the door (Medical school acceptance)
5. Take it one step at a time

If you are feeling down about your application cycle, SDN is not a place you want to spend your time , Clarus.

Keep your head down and stay focused. Remind yourself why you are doing this.

Make sure you set aside time for yourself to relax and clear your head; see your friends.

Mental health is extremely important, and when that is suffering so will your grades. So make sure you plan things to distract you from school here and there.

Looking at your previous stat, I would recommend a gap year. That worked for me. Just work, do some studying and take part time classes if you would like (just 1 class). Retake any courses possible!

Just curious to why you said an SMP is a waste just because D.O. is his/her best bet? D.O. schools have SMPs. A lot of D.O. schools have them with direct admittance into med school if they pass with a certain GPA.

Grade replacement is a much more logical avenue for OP to take compared to a SMP. He/she is currently struggling through a post-bac. SMPs are very intense and are a last ditch attempt at getting into a medical school.

Edit: Not bashing on DO (I fully intend to apply strictly DO when the time is right). SMPs don't really make much sense to me when there is grade replacement.

Well some people don't have the time or money for grade replacements and under certain conditions where an applicant has applied 2-3 times, an SMP is a good choice for them.

Wow, sounds like a good program.
I'll stick to my usual plan and if I fail 2 cycles, I'll begin my plan B or do my SMP here 😀
But hopefully I'll improve and do well in my next 4 years.
I've bombed the first test in General Chem 1. Argh.
