So I took my Mcat yesterday and don't feel too hot about verbal. My average on practice exams was around 8, but idk how I did compared to that. I was averaging 30 on my aamcs as well. What should I do according to applying? My GPA is around 3.3 ish. What Mcat should I get to not retake? If I retake, when should I apply and when should I retake?

I would suggest that you relax and just wait for the results. No point in worrying about it if you don't know for sure whats going to happen. I thought I completely failed the physical science section but it turns out that I did the best on it. Its normal to feel crappy after the MCAT but the best thing to do is relax and focus on something else. BTW getting a verbal score below 8 isn't a death sentence for DO schools as long as your overall score is still above the average.

But what if I score sub par for DO? Then I have to retake and have to push back apps

Is there a specific DO school you want to get into? Your location said CA, so are you hoping to get into Touro-CA or Western?

Like what bioner89 said, it depends on where you want to go.

If you have no preference, IMO, it's worth a shot to apply with anything above a 26, so long as you have good EC's, LoR's, etc. But below a 24, you may want to consider retaking before applying. Either way, having the app ready to go couldn't hurt.

Most importantly, wait until you get your results to make a decision. If the time before the MCAT was tough for you, waiting for the results is going to be unbearable. Relax. 99% chance that you did better than you thought.

Relax, it happens to everyone. I had the same feeling after I took my MCAT. Just take some time off and go outside.

In a week or 2 start filling out your application slowly and working on those secondaries.

Should I study for a retake tho?

No one can answer that question for you, but you. Study if you feel you need to retake it, but know that most people feel how you're feeling after taking the MCAT.

If I were you, I would enjoy my summer. Worry about the MCAT in a month if your score isn't what you desire.

Ok. So if I was to retake though, would I apply June 1 with my crap Mcat and then just update with the new? Will it put me behind? Also, can they give interviews according to my first Mcat

If it's a 'very' crap MCAT, I would spend a month and a half studying then retake and then apply in august or so if the score is good. That way, if the same score comes up, you haven't wasted any $$ applying.

Definitely this. Don't bother studying until you get the scores back.

If you plan to retake it after getting your scores, you should submit your primary to one school. That way, your app gets verified early. You can always update your app with the new MCAT score later. The answer to your last question all depends on the school. People get interviews with a wide range of scores. Shoot for a 27+ and make sure to check that you meet school specific cutoffs to save yourself from wasting time and money applying to schools that won't consider your application.

Quit fussing until you get score in hand. For DO schools anything >25/26 is fine for many schools, and high 20s is fine for all.

Even with a 3.3?

You will most likely be able to get into a DO school with a 3.3 and 25-26 mcat however you prob won't get into any CA or NY DO schools or any of the well established DO schools.
