just received word from case that my app is on hold because they want me to retake DAT...my DAT avgs are pretty much 18s and i have very good GPA and everything else. this was my first response from schools so its kind of discouraging..my question really is what to do. i'm signed up for a class this semester (i'm working full time in a research lab) and i don't know if retaking the test in oct or nov. is enough time for me to get interviews..and that's given that i improve as the schools desire. i'm assuming the "hold" status doesn't mean that if you do indeed get improved scores in nov, that you have an increased shot of getting an interview compared to others. should i just wait and see about other schools before scheduling a retake?

I was told the same thing by Case two years ago. Fortunately, I already had 4 interviews lined up, so I didn't retake. In your case, you might hold out for a little bit longer, but not too long. Then I would schedule a retake.

Do you know if you can cancel a test date and get a refund? If so, I would schedule right now, and then cancel later. Or you can schedule now anyways... and worst-case scenario, you lose $180 or whatever the tests costs. $180 in the long run does not mean much at all if you end up getting interviews and acceptances.

even if i do well on the retake in early november, is this not considered too late for many public schools?

sorry for asking again, but i really want some advice...would schools still consider me if i retook the DAT in november? sure i want to do well in this appl cycle but i don't want to be studying again if i will have a significantly lower chance of them still looking at me. by the way, does the application deadline for schools mean the last date that the appl has to be received..or does that include DAT scores too?
thanks
