What to do?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That's a hard one because the point of a PS is to have stories about you and reason why you want to be a dentist. The professor has probably wrote LOR and other formal letters before so I would imagine his/her opinion is more important. On the other hand the dental students advice is important because dental students are interviewers too. My vote is professor and career center people

Hi all, I am applying to dental school this upcoming cycle and I just finished my personal statement. I sent my personal statement to various people around the campus and then I got mixed feelings about it. A professor and a person at career center said that it was a good one and there is no need for major changes. Three of my friends (one dental student) said that I need to change a paragraph ( it is also the paragraph which the professor and the career center person like the most). I just don't know who I should listen to. Help?

My advice is create a second draft with the changes suggested by dental student, and then show it to the professor/career ctr people. Sometimes the prof/career ctr have seen a huge range of PS, they may be lazy and say that its okay if its average.

Just wondering... I thought that a personal statement is considered informal. Just because in school I was taught that contractions do not belong in formal writing and my personal statement is full of contractions:idea:
