Hey guys could you help point me in the right direction. I have a sub 3.0 sGPA and a 3.2 GPA overall in Biology. Taking the DAT soon so I don't know if I should bother applying to a D school right away or if I should enroll in a post-bacc or master program. I'm from the northeast so please let me know if there are any post-bacc programs in the northeast that could help my chances of getting into D school and when!

Unless you achieve an obnoxiously high score, I wouldn't really bother. Having an sGPA below 3.0 is really going to hurt you.

Yeah I know it is really going to hurt me so Post-bacc/Masters is the right choice. Any suggestions as to what programs are used to help boost a standing like mine?

I personally don't have any knowledge on the subject; I'm sure someone on this board will chyme in though! How many science credits do you have under your belt?

I have them all. Majored in Biological Sciences so Bio 1/2, G Chem 1/2, O Chem 1/2, Human Parasitology, Biochemistry, Evolutionary Medicine, a ton of labs, and I am sure I am forgetting a couple of classes down the line.

I did a biomedical science masters and that is the reason I was accepted this cycle. The main goal of programs like this are to help people get into med/dental school. They are all over but I went to Barry University in Miami, not a bad place to spend a year. 😀

Take the test and apply if you get a 21+. Even if you don't get in, you get the experience in applying, and perhaps even an interview or two.

I got an interview back in 1998 and I scored a 15 on the DAT and had a 3.8 GPA. And, I was only through 2.5 years of my biology undergrad. I was waitlisted and eventually withdrew completely and changed my major to Bioengineering and have been working for 13 years as a medical device engineer. I will be resuming my dream to practice dentistry this year by retaking the DAT and re-applying.

Bottom line - there is value and no detriment in trying. You can learn so much from the application experience - and what if you get accepted? You'll be so happy you didn't wait!
