Hey, I applied to about 10 schools, and finally have an interview at 1.
im worried that it would look really bad if I tell them i've had no other interviews.
if asked where else have I interviewed, what should I say?
Should I try to come up with an excuse of why I haven't got much love this cycle?
or should I just try to avoid the question?
would it even look bad?

No lies, no excuses. If they ask how many interviews you've had. Tell them and stop there.

If they ask you why you think you didn't have more interviews, point to whatever the real reason is (you should probably know, or you could contact schools that rejected you preinterview and ask they what you can do to strengthen your application for the next cycle. Someone will tell you where you fell short).

I wasnt going to lie, just try to explain why I believe I didnt have any interviews.
But thank you for the advice!
seeing how this is my only interview, I really want to blow them away
I just hope im not asked this question.

Try not to sweat it, and good luck.

Out of curiosity, what is the reason you think you didn't get more interviews?

Just say it's your first and don't tell them how many schools you applied to (unless they ask, which they probably won't).

Explaining why you don't think you got any more interviews could hurt you if not done properly. It's like bring up negatives without being asked.

At this point in the year, the adcom already knows that you haven't been accepted anywhere else. No use lying about your lack of interviews.

It's a tough cycle; lots more applicants and fewer spots. 👍

Even better, don't stop there and continue on to say how excited you are for this opportunity and what you like about their program.

You should tell them you've already had 10 interviews and you were accepted to Harvard, Hopkins, and Wash U, amongst others. Then they will think you are really awesome and accept you for sure.
