What was your "theme song" while applying to med school? For interviews?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Definitely Daniel Bettingfield's "I gotta get through this"! I don't think I would have made it through this application cycle with out it!

I think mine was the theme song to "Mission Impossible".

AARRGGHHH!!!!!

it's DANIEL BEDINGFIELD!!!!!!!!

not 2 T's...1 D! and its Daniel...Not David!!!

😀 sorry...just annoyed. 😀

After compulsively checking my mailbox/email several times a day for med school news only to find credit card offers and get-rich-quick spam, my song should have been "Build me up buttercup":

Why do you build me up buttercup baby
just to let me down
and mess me around
and then worst of all
you never call baby when you say you will
but i love you still ...

Hahahaha...
Just seeing if you were paying attention. 😉

The Beatles "Help!" (Help! I need someone! Help! Not just anyone!! Won't you pleeeaase help me? Help me???)
and "A Hard Day's Night"
Boston "Peace of Mind" (All I want is a little peace of mi.i...nd...)
Sarah McLachlan "Sweet Surrender" and "Hold On" (Hold on, hold on to yourself...this is going to hurt like hell...)
Second the Mission Impossible theme song and Daniel Bedingfield "I'm gonna get thru this"
Ain't No Mountain High Enough (to keep me from coming to you...)
Shania Twain "I'm gonna getcha good" (not that i'm a big fan of country music or anything...just those lyrics really hit home...)

And of course, that crazy theme music to the Examkrackers audio osmosis cd....kind of has a disco feel, yes?

Eminem "Till I Collapse"

This was the song I'd listen to while taking breaks from studying for the MCATs. Also good to get you hype up for the interviews !

"Lose Yourself" by Eminem. Understand it and it gets me angry to succeed.😎

Heb

For me, so far, it's been:

Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
1812 Overture - Tchaikovsky
Headstrong - Trapt
Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes
All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix

Hey Sooner, I keep thinking that picture is a picture of you!! Maybe it is ...

I've been thinking about the Winona Judd song (ok, here's some country) that goes something like: "he hurt me bad, in a real good way..."

The tune is pretty catchy and it's something about "I never would have found you, if he had wanted to stay. Oh, he hurt me bad, in a real good way ..."

That oftentimes, it's a good thing when something doesn't work out, because then we don't find the even BETTER thing waiting behind it. 😉 You could also use the Garth Brook's song: Unanswered Prayers.

In my less philosophical moments I might think of the Ride of The Valkyries - so cool in Apocolypse Now with the choppers coming up! - and the I get knocked Down But I Get up Again, song.

I definitely have theme songs in my head!

Imperial March from "The Empire Strikes Back"...yes...it was that painful 😛

The slow movement of waitlists is prompting me to use Loser by Beck.

As I enter the "pre application" phase, I have encountered some troubles with advisors and such discouraging me from osteopathy. Lately, I have adopted "Headstrong" by Trapt as my personal theme song. Plus, it says a lot about me 🙂

"Dumb" Nirvana

patience - gnr

had to have a whooooole lotta patience

this app process takes so $&#* long

My application theme song:

The song from "The Price is Right."

That's my theme song for everything. I've been living with that song stuck in my head for seven years now. It's hard to be me.🙄

--Funkless

"Charlie Tuna, tell them what they've won!"

"Well, Bob, it's a beautiful WINNEBAGO!"

Shania Twain, "Man, I Feel Like a Woman"

I wasn't planning on having a theme song, but as I was driving to my first (and most important) interview, I was nervous of course and really unsure of myself.

The first song that came on the radio was Vanessa Carlton's "Ordinary Day" and although it kinda is meant to be a love song, it struck me funny because here I was worrying about this seemingly important day where I needed to be super extraordinary and show the committee how great I was, and really, it was just another ordinary day and all I needed to be was myself... an ordinary boy. 🙂

It really helped relax me and help me focus on the bigger picture!

this ont did the trick

move ___ get out the way!

ludacris

This is going to sound really corny, but I downloaded the MP3 for the them song to last year's NBA on NBC. You know the part where the basketball reporter is saying, "Live to you from Staples center in beeeautiful downtown LA! It's the Los Angeles Lakers vs. The New Jersey Nets (boooo hisss)!"

The NBA got a new TV deal with ABC for the next few years and the new background music sucks.

"Put it in her Mouth" Akiyele

"Put it in her Mouth" Akiyele

Columbia, that is disgusting... where is the inspirational/motivational value there???
Unless you applied to the Medical College of Fellatio and Cunniligus

Are they an AMCAS school?? Message me with the details, please.

application/WL/rejection song: cry me a river (any song that has these words)

Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know"

I'm here to remind you, of the mess you made when you [waitlisted me].
It's not fair to deny me, of the cross I bear that you gave to me,
you. you, you oughta know!

Yep, it sounds like waitlist material to me...🙁

In the car on the way to whatever city the interview was in: Top Gun soundtrack (ultimate driving CD)

On the way to the interview: final song from Top Gun sound track (Danger Zone one)

Overall: Bon Jovi, It's My Life (It's my life, it's now or never....)

Puff, The Magic Dragon

But before today.. it was Beyonce's Got me looking so crazy.

My waitlist woes were clear...

"Got me looking so crazy right now...got me hoping you page me right now, you call me right now you save me right now."

LOL, they did, I cannot believe it, and this thread lives on for you class of 2008...

what's my age again? (blink-182)

"I'm too sexy" and "99 bottles of beer on the wall"

so far, the smiths "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME GET WHAT I WANT"

I have a few:

"complicated" and "go away" by avril.

Phantom Planet's "California" (The O.C. theme song)

i swear i could not remember for the life of me that liz phair song polyester bride.....that song was good and so was that album....

thanks!

oh yeah about this theme song business...

lose yourself was a good one...
listened to random classical stuff to calm me down so i didnt get too frustrated doing piles of secondaries...

i kept on playing bubbly toes by jack johnson over and over too for some reason.

"Street fighting man" by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards at full volume quickly followed by "You can't always get what you want". Beggar's Banquet is a huge asset during interview season.

Hmm, not many country fans around here.

I'll admit that my theme song was "I'm gonna be somebody" by Travis Tritt.

When walking to my interviews: Blitzkrieg Bop or anything by the Ramones. I thought it would rev me up, but lately I've been thinking it probably makes me more argumentative and confrontational(probably not a good thing).

"holiday inn" by chingy.

"what you doin?"
"nothin, chillin at the holiday inn" waiting for my interview tomorrow

When driving to my interview during morning rush hour:

"Move b*tch Get out the way" --Ludacris

For rejections - that song at the end of The Two Towers soundtrack - "gollum's song" or whatever...

Where once was light, now darkness falls
Where once was love, love is no more
Don't say good bye
Don't say I didn't try

love the drama....

When I got accepted -
Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like this" (i know, please forgive me)

for interviews.....

"SHE'S A BRICK ----- HOWWWSE!!"
