Normally I hate these kind of threads: x school vs. y school, but I really feel like i need some oppinions and reasoning... What would you do, go to Temple or Howard? Keep in mind tuition at Howard is about $72,000 cheaper than Temple for the four year run. I'm pretty sure that academically they are roughly equal, but clinically Temple has such a strong emphasis. Once again, What would you do? 😕

Congrats! I don't know much about Howard, but I was impressed with Temple at my interview- the clinical exposure alone is great! There was another thread about Temple vs. ___? There are some great Temple pro's and con's in there. One con of Temple that I remember is that if you're patients don't pay, you're responsible for that $$.

I'm choosing Temple over a great school. There's no substitute for clinical experience.

Didn't you have another thread on here? Seems like you said you were going to Howard.. I guess you're back and forth about the decision like I am.. Well, I've posted threads on Dentaltown.com. Most of the feedback I got was:
-go where you feel the most comfortable
-go to the cheapest school
-go to the school that will best prepare you clinically for the real world of dentistry
-what city do you want to live in for 4 years?

With that said, its still a tough decision. All I can say is go with your gut instinct.

Good luck! We may be classmates if we both choose Howard...

If you don't mind, is that school that your choosing Temple over equally priced? Or is it more expensive... In many people's eyes Tufts is a great school with strong didactic and clinical emphasis, but the price tag scared the **** out of me, that's why I am asking only about Temple and Howard.

The school that I was referring to is Michigan. The price is equally the same. If money is the big issue for you then yeah go ahead and go to Howard. It is cheaper and you'll be getting the same degree. The question that I asked myself during my decision process was "what are my goals in dental school?" and "which school will be the best to help me achieve those goals?" Good luck on whatever you decide on.

Temple is not the only school to make you pay for a patient who did not pay. AND ANOTHER THING! If your patient didn't pay it is most likely your fault ANYWAY.

You have the responsibility to either make them pay in cash or check that their insurance will cover it before you do the procedure. I understand time is limited and some secretaries are less than willing to help you, but it is possible to never ever have a patient not pay.

This is the general synopsis I have heard from the upperclass at Temple.

As far as where to go...I am biased so i cannot entertain that question. Lets just say that the Philly players club is much better than D.C.'s

😎

Wow, I didn't think Temple and Howard would compete over the same students.

Temple, hands down.
