I would like to know what people here would do for alternate careers. Please post and feel free to be candid. Would you be as passionate about a regular 9 to 5 as you would be in medicine?

If I absolutely can't get in, I'd go back to nurse-midwifery school. I'd also maybe like some mechanical engineering. Teaching woudn't be too bad either. I could always teach some poor community college students some European history...of course I'd have to add my own special twist on things for some flavor.

I would work for an energy company (the business side), then get an MBA and keep working for an energy company (that's where the money is at). Save up money and open some state of the art franchise gyms with my brother. 👍

I bet some will go to law school just to have a prestige job on their hands.

What are you trying to say? I simply value a career that is in the upper echelon of society.

Oh no, don't take this towards yourself, by any means. I just meant I heard of other people not getting in and they decide to go to law school.

Probably work as a professor. I could teach intro to chem/bio or basic biochem at a CC or something.

Self-published author also appeals to me, but I don't write fast enough to make a living from it.... And the lack of a guaranteed income is not something I appreciate...

"Author and Gigolo" has a nice ring to it...

Two girls at the same time....

Or marketing of some sort.

Professor, PA, young adult fantasy author.

Probably become a physicist with an attitude like Sheldon 😛.

I always wanted to be a FBI or CIA agent as a kid.. I think I would have gone for that. Yeah I think if I didn't get into medical school I would of gotten a degree, joined the military, then try to become a FBI or CIA agent.

Other hypothetical route was to get my PhD in Microbiology and try to work for the CDC/WHO, but after researching for the last two years... it's too boring for me.

I would return to the field of public relations of course.

Paramedic Firefighter, research, race car driver, or bush pilot. Some of those are more realistic than others.

Research,
scientific publishing/editing,
government work,
be a mom 😍

I'm assuming this is a joke since you've been a member for 12 years. If not, did you sign up when you were 12 or did you do nursing school, then midwife school, then change to MD? Also, those selections are a weird blend as far as personality/human interaction goes.

Not a joke, lol. I was young when I signed up (graduated early from high school), and I've done lots of things since then. I enjoy many different things. It's hard to limit myself to what is all possible, and I like the challenge that it presents. 🙂

If I could not go into medicine, I would consider the following careers:

Statistician for a large financial firm or something
Accountant and take over my father's business
Structural engineer

I would then look at how much more schooling I would need, lifestyle, and the Benjamin's

Probably get an MBA

I would go for the PA route if med school wasn't an option. If I couldn't do medicine at all, I would definitely want to get a PhD and then teach university. Although I've also always wanted to be a florist....

...as in I should be doing that or as in I didn't deserve to get in?

I think what he means is you are depriving the world of another VS model, which is bad.

Also.....pics.
