What would you do if you did not go into medicine

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Since I'm still deciding between a PhD in Clinical Psych or going to Med School, if I couldn't do the latter, I'd probably do the former (though getting into a PhD program in Clinical Psych is not a laughing matter...of course the PsyD is also an option).

If not that, then maybe PA school. Could still practice medicine and make a good salary so the trade-off wouldn't be horrible in the least.

If not that...well maybe physical therapy since I enjoy weight lifting and the physiology behind it.

...and if not that...well I'd probably try my hand at becoming a police officer. Because why not?
Right there with ya for Clinical Psych! ^_^

Since I've been playing piano for 13 years already, I would probably just start taking piano lessons again and practice for 8+ hours a day and try to become a concert pianist...LOL :meanie: ...or go to culinary school, since I love food 😛

Consider whether I should sell my soul to Finance (Physics major, so I figure I'd just have to take a couple CS and Econ classes at this point) or go the scientist route by continuing the type of research I'm doing. The latter would involve half my time in another country, which would be fun, but I'm not sure what getting a PhD would mean for the rest of my life.

If i weren't going to medschool, i would become an environmental biologist. No college?, id be a cop. They have very cool jobs.

I would try my hand at ghost writing sultry erotica geared at housewives. If Fifty Shades of Grey can sell 50,000,000 copies, I'm sure I would at least be mildly successful.. I have a creative and dirty mind.

Now I just need to find a young sexy female to be the "author" of the book so that women will actually buy it...

Wait, why am I going to med school again?

I always wanted to be a FBI or CIA agent as a kid.. I think I would have gone for that. Yeah I think if I didn't get into medical school I would of gotten a degree, joined the military, then try to become a FBI or CIA agent.

Other hypothetical route was to get my PhD in Microbiology and try to work for the CDC/WHO, but after researching for the last two years... it's too boring for me.

Late to the party. You can still do FBI or CIA as a doc 👍

I would prob go the mil route for something different as I don't find investment banking nearly as interesting as I did in childhood.

Here is an anatomy video to Ram Jam's Black Betty. I am going to have a Youtube.com section called Medical Media Zone where you can watch videos of anatomical features from relevant courses, movies, films, and things.

I still want to do MD, DO, or MBBS.

If it's due to my inability to get an acceptance, I would reapply.

If it was because I found out medicine was not for me, either Research or Engineering.

If I don't get in several times after many improvements, then I guess medical school is out of the picture. If so, I would get my PhD in some type of microbiology/parisitology/virology and would work for the CDC (DREAM!) or the state health department. Considering I want to specialize in Infectious Disease, this is the second best route for me 🙂
