After getting acceptance letter what we should do? seniors please throw light!

Also is the acceptance letter enough to start the loan process? Or we need any additional documents from school?😕

Where are you going to go?
This is what I did as soon as I saw the letter in that order

1. screamed at the top of my voice and jumped and danced around. Rinse and repeat X infinity
2. called everyone
3. drank margaritas (optional step)

Seriously-

1. you have to send in a deposit (depends on the school)
2. Maybe some more documents

#2 depends on what they say on hard copy package. And your visa status.

Usually after you send in your deposit, the school will send you a package with instructions on everything to do next , access codes (depending on the school) and if you need a student visa the process to getting one starts,the loan process too.

I am happy but lots of questions are arising with in me!
with this current economic scenario, with my husbands job instability is it safe to get in to 3 yr school along with such a huge loan!


Also, I am wondering what if pay the deposit and don't get the loans? Has anybody faced that situation! Will universities defer our admission or happy with donation we have made to them!

hello,
i understand the concerns u have...as I'm sailing in the same ship.i also got into nyu this yr,but i want to tell u wht happened last year.
i got admission last year,paid the deposit 2500 and in the end could able to attend.so moral of the story was that i lost that money,with no deferment.
now again 5000 with no assurance that i would be able to get my visa..but have to sacrifice.no other way out.
now it depends on u...I'm going just with the flow.let's see wht happen next.

I really, truly understand your concern. Was just trying to get you to laugh. 😀 Have been in the spouse's job instability, should we go back to home country(and all the associated baggage that comes with it) or not, visa worries...round 1 last year...almost 1 year ago to date actually. It continues to plague me even now.

I know of one or two people who had to give up their seat coz they could not get loans. 🙁

Now some good news- The thing is this bad economy will not last forever. There will be some turnaround at some point. And you will be able to repay the loan. (I think of it as a second mortgage). Many, many people including your truly, are in the same boat. So . Like my friend says "cheer up...tomorrow will be worse"

I think so elderwand ! A person I met in dental school told me that he got SSN with F1. I am not 100% sure though!

On F1 status if you are got on campus job then only you will get ssn other wise you will not get ssn

dentousa is right. three years ago, SSNs came with the F1 visa, but now you need to get a job in order to get one. i had the same problem, so i got an on campus job during my undergrad and quit a week later when i got the SSN. hope this helps!

After getting the job you contact the local Social Security Administration office. Takes about 2 weeks to get a number.

No not all banks ask for your SSN. Your co signer's, yes.

Think you have to send some confidential financial documents before they process your I20. You will need I20 to get student visa.
Speak to your admission coordinator and the International Student Office of your school.
