After another look, it doesn't look too bad and shows at least a little bit of progression...
3.13 applying GPA

Just wanted to see what people thought my odds were. I'm pretty late in the application process with only a few secondaries left. The lateness was on account of my poor MCAT and just thinking I didn't have a shot, but when I got the second one back I went through with the whole thing. My gpa b l o w s and I'm fully aware that it will be what breaks me this round, but if anyone has any words of hope about a friend of a friend who got it or whatever that'd be super sweet.

I think you're chances aren't too high because of the GPA and you said you're late in the cycle? That's another downside. If you take a year off and apply again, try to bring up your gpa.

yeah, I figured as much... I'm developing some plans for the year I will likely be taking off as well.

Take a year and build that GPA up. Remember classes are classes so take some easy ones!!

Also, apply early next year.

You still have a puncher's chance this yr with a 34MCAT. 😀

You do have a chance. According to AMCAS stats, for students who self identified as White from 2005 to 2007, 40.2% were accepted to a school with a GPA of 3.00-3.19 and an MCAT of 33-35.

I'm hoping jumping 6 points on my mcat helps me out a little bit too (I really have no idea how that happened). But I'm realistic with that nasty GPA. My family and gf are all so certain that I'm getting in... I don't think anyone understands the competitiveness of this system until you've been in it.

Ok, you would have better than a puncher's chance based on stats but you are late in the cycle.

Maybe apply to lower stat schools and see what happens. Probably a long shot though at this time.

Personally, I would get my GPA up to a 3.3 and apply early next year.
