I was going to take my long awaited return trip to Europe ..but decided I didn't have the funds just yet . So I am just gonna stay home, relax, search for a nice place, and pack up only the things I could not live without (except my puppy )...

Chillin', relaxing, playing some ball, watching ballgames (go SOX!!!), watching World Cup. Then second week going to LA, trying to get an extra spot and seeing some stupid game show (hey, maybe price IS right!!) and then Disney World, or something. Then third week visit Canada and gamble a bit. By fourth week....... Finally, when med school comes around, I'll be pretty tired, but it can't be that much harder than undergrad, right? right?

AK•••••He's Hindu. THe funny part is that his parents LOVE me and they're the ones that want me to come to India. That's cool that his parents are so open. My parents are definitely of the "old generation," and I think that it would definitely take a looooooong time for them to get used to the idea of me meeting someone besides a South-Asian.

If you don't mind me asking, were his parents or your parents apprehensive at all (or at first) during the beginning of your relationship, and, if so, how long did it take for everything to smooth out?

Sorry people that this is off the topic, but W doesn't accept PMs. W, how come?

For the first few months they tried to talk my husband out of it... not because I was American, but because they thought him having a girlfriend (any girlfriend) would interfer with his schoolwork and just be a distraction. They weren't ugly about it, they were just, you know... being parents. We both spent a lot of time explaining to them that we were very committed to each other and that we were very serious about going to medical school and that education comes first... blah blah blah... once they were convinced that we weren't going to drop out of school or anything crazy like that... they were fine with everything. So 2.5 years later we got married legally with their blessing... and in India they want us to have a "real wedding" in 2005.

I think I just got really lucky. His parents are so awesome. They pray for me at their temple... and e-mail me everytime they know I have an exam or job interview or something... always cheering me on. Honestly, they seem so Jewish to me... all they care about is that I'm loyal to their son and that I plan to be well-educated.


Now I'm not sure how smoothly things would have went if I weren't doing well in college and I wasn't planning on going to medical school. They kinda freaked out when my parents got divorced and my brother got arrested for possession of a weapon... all in one year <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> But they calmed down and wrote sweetly... "We are so sorry about your troubles...we will pray for you... please don't let this affect your school work."

My mom adores him... she likes Indian guys too... I guess I got it from her. And nobody cares what my dad thinks because he's a crazy alcoholic.

I'll be teaching biochem at UCLA, going fun places every weekend (Vegas, San Diego, SF), working on my tan, moving across town, and whenever I don't have anything better to do, study a bit b4 school

As for me, I'm working and going on a cruise to Bermuda with my fiancee. We probably can't afford it, but what the hell.

Well I'll be doing research for the summer <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> But I also plan to work on my B-ball game so that I can drop triple-doubles during intramurals. I wanted to go to Europe but had trouble with funds so I'll be hitting up Canada for Caribanna!!!!! WoooHOO

My husband goes to Johns Hopkins... and honestly... I don't want to go there. I know, I know... you think I'm just saying that because I have little hope of even getting an interview... but seriously, I don't even want to apply. The students are all really nice but most of them are also really anal... and east Baltimore is just yuck!
I want to have a little bit of fun in medical school... I know it's a lot of hard work... but I want to enjoy myself now and then too.

More seriously, I stopped over in Amsterdam earlier this year on my way to Nigeria; so I wouldn't have put it on my list except that 2 friends of mine are in the Hague (30 min from Amsterdam) for the summer, and since I'll be around the corner, they asked me to come and hang out with them for 2 days.

How was the trip? Did you guys drive a lot? That the biggest thing my friends are worried about when we go.

We were also going to go to the Price is Right but LA plus the traffic may be to much to deal with.
