im a freshman in college, just about to finish up my first semester. i had been thinking about what ill major in and thought this would be a good place to get ideas.

Biology-with a minor in chemistry. I would turn this into a poll. It would be cool to see it in a poll I think.

Microbiology

I was even asked by an interviewer WHY I chose micro...and what my favorite bacterium was. LOL

just basic biology, I like it cause it lets me take broader bio classes. Ive had the pleasure of taking entomology, a wildlife class, issues with the economy and environment and next semester I get to take a virology class. Pretty much lets me take classes Im interested in as opposed to being stuck to a single course track in bio

I'm a general bio major. As someone above said, it lets me take whatever bio class I want which is pretty nice. I can just take the ones that I'm interested in.

Also, don't choose your major just on what we say! Major in something you'll enjoy! It's a pain to take classes that you hate.

Public Health. I think it's a pretty good major if you're applying to health professions schools.

Mechanical Engineering w/ a minor in Acoustics. In a crowd of biology majors, it feels good to be different...I'm not sure this kind of different is necessarily a good thing to all dental dental schools, but it definitely has made the interview discussions interesting...

biomedical science. it was awesome. got to take classes like histology, human gross anatomy, and neuroscience. most of the students were planning on going into health care fields.

Spanish major...it was a really great decision! The Hispanic population is growing and it helps to be able to communicate without any help.

Major: Biochemistry
Minors: Math & Chemistry

I thought biochem was pretty cool because you can take a variety of classes (at least at my school). Plus, as you get farther into your science classes it will help you so much to have a good biochem background-- biochem is in everything! 🙂

I'm kinda wacko

Major: Biochemistry
Minors: German, French...

I'm not applying until next cycle so I don't know if this is a good or bad thing.

I imagine at interviews they'll be railing on me for not taking the most practical language in healthcare: Spanish, but I figure there are plenty of opportunities to learn Spanish later in life, esp. in the US (and I've already put my French to use once by having to translate, albeit poorly, for a West African family at the public health clinic I volunteer at 😛)

Psychology, but you can major in whatever you want, as long as you do good in your science classes and have good extracurricular activities.

Anthropology Major
Minors in Business and Theatre

Let's see how that pans when I apply =)
