What's needed to just pass?

What are you making on UWorld?

It seems a bit unusual that you're at 173 right now after going through DIT/FA/most of Uworld/Pathoma. Do you feel like you're getting the material when you're studying? Are you rushing through things?
4 weeks is definitely enough time to bring you way above passing. I don't think you need any materials outside of the ones listed, you just need to know those FA/Pathoma cold, front and back, upside down and inside out. Go back through FA again, and make sure you feel comfortable with each section before moving on. Don't rush through sections just because you feel the need to get through x pages in a day (try to get a reasonable pace, of course). There's no point in reading FA a million times if you aren't getting the material straight the first time around.

Currently at 57% on UWORLD. Yes, I definitely do feel like I'm rushing it to try to get everything in, without getting a chance to go over what I did during the day again at night. I also think I'm possibly spreading myself too thin.

Granted, I am a horrible test taker, and when I took that NBME I was suffering from a really bad headache, but still....

Best plan of action? Focus on FA + Pathoma/go over Uworld incorrects? I'm planning to take another NBME tomorrow so see if that last one was just a fluke (wishful thinking).

Thank you so much for your input! =)

Make sure you really go through FA and Pathoma thoroughly. I made the mistake of going through FA too fast the first time around (just to have it under my belt), and I think it just ended up being a waste of time. I only saw a real increase in score when I sat down and made sure I knew the material well before moving on.

To be honest, knowing FA front-and-back is probably sufficient to pass, with UWorld and Pathoma providing more score insurance.

Quality over quantity. If you're just going through uworld questions and not reading the explanations properly, then you're not doing it properly. Honestly, it took me 4 - 5 hrs to do one block of uworld. I made anki cards for crap I didnt know, and I read everything in the explanation (even if i had a question right).

Honestly if you're at 173 on the nbme, you don't know the material. Your best bet is to really memorize FA and pathoma. Put in those 12+ hr days. Do 30 - 40 pages of FA a day and don't just passively read the page, move on only when you can literally regurgitate most of the information on a page. 50 - 60% of the actual usmle exam is straight instant FA recall. So know the material really really well.

Get rid of picmonic BRS and all the other crap. Focus on the core. FA + pathoma + uworld. Good luck.
