I know this is a stupid question but whats the difference between and RN and a NP and what does RN stand for?

An RN stands for registered nurse. An RN either has a two year associates degree, or a four year bachelors degree. A NP is a nurse practitioner. This person holds a masters degree in nursing, and typically specializes in an area.
