What's the name of that scholarship, where they pay for your full tuition and give you a stipend if you pledge to work in an underprivledged area upon your graduation? I've seen it talked about on here, but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. 😕

A dental student from University of Kentucky just sent me the link, I will post it as soon as my school fixes our email accounts

National Health Service Corps. Type it into google. It sounds pretty good and is definitely a way to contribute, but make sure you read all the ins and outs, such as how much it costs to pull out( i.e 3 x the amount they give you), that you are required to do either General Dentistry or Pediatrics to serve, etc. They have two different options: a scholarship (which includes a stipend) and a loan repayment program. Give it a look

Also, does anyone know of anyone who has, or is, participating in this program? How do they like it, what is average/possible pay, are they satisfied? Any advice would help, thanks.

I thought I saw someone post here in SDN, that their friend or something got an offer of 120,000 right out of school and they also agreed to pay the loan. I am not quite sure, but I thought I saw something like that.

I was told that this program has one of the most rigorous screening systems ever invented. I guess a lot of people from back in the day (well, not that long ago) bailed on the program, so now they only take on individuals who they are almost certain will remain committed.

Yeah, that's the scholarship I had in mind. Thanks.

I checked the website and it seems to indicate that if you don't come from an impoverished background yourself you aren't eligible? I am interested in the program but it does look tough to qualify. Do they tell you where to live?
