....of putting garbage like this in the Annals Internal Medicine?

http://annals.org/article.aspx?articleid=2427613

Just so it can be picked up by Huffington Post and make our already difficult job, harder?

Yeah I don't know why that was accepted for publication. To "generate discussion"? We all know inappropriate behavior takes place in the hospital. The stories were even in the context of a medical ethics class, but the author seems to purposefully not stress that part, but rather tries to make the essay as inflammatory and click-baity as possible.

These stories have nothing to do with forgiveness. Nothing even happened to the students. They joined in. And yet these isolated incidents are going to be trumpeted as if they are the normal standard of behavior for physicians as if the physician patient relationship hasn't been damaged enough in recent times. Why print this drivel when the media is already using bad behavior from a tiny minority of doctors to grab attention

At least the anesthesiologists did the right thing on this one.

Yeah, I like how even though the anesthesiologist was not the physician abusing patients in these story, the Huffington post's headline seem to point finger at the anesthesiologist. The subheading was "what really happens when the anesthesiologist tell you to count down from 100" and posted a picture of a patient being put to sleep.

Damn, even the public are going along with the blame anesthesia mentality.

Does anybody really still care about anything HuffPo "publishes"? Seriously.

OK, but what about the LA Times this morning?

40-50% of the public votes that direction and reads news sites with that bias.

You're telling me you don't care what that voting bloc reads and thinks? Seriously?

They're not quite the laughingstock CNN has become, derided and mocked by everyone, but they've got as much credibility as other left-leaning news outlets.

wtf
a physician scrubbing the patient's thighs and genitals with cotton balls on a metal stick with betadine on it for sterility prior to a procedure somehow became "a man stroked the inner thigh and genitals of an unconscious woman"
an off color joke suddenly becomes sexual assault?

this is why you don't put things out that can be misconstrued by the media
