I just did the 150 w/the sample sound video questions and I got an 86 percent. That equates to a 251 according to the medfriends website - but honestly, I dont think improved that much and felt horrible the entire time through.

I'm taking NBME form 4 next monday, so I guess I'll know then.

Anyone think this was too easy/scoring was off?

Thanks.

well only you know for sure if you are at that level. I've gotten an 88, 80, and a 84 on my last three kaplan 50 question, random, timed sessions. that equates to like a 265 on that score estimator if i just average those three. I still have a crapload of reviewing to do and I highly doubt I could hit a 260+ right now if i took it. Don't worry too much about all these weird score converters and crap out there. Just do your thing and get the job done. Stay CONFIDENT - that is key. you've been studying hard and you deserve to do well, so don't look for people to tell you otherwise. keep your game face on.

please dont flame me but where do you find these 150 questions with sound and all?

I did notice with the medfriends that the SD for the prediction on the 150 was the lowest (albeit an 11, compared to a 13 for NBME forms). That must mean something I suppose. I would imagine if you're hittin 80% of the easy to medium questions, you're doing fine. With the Kaplan scoring though, it does mention last 300 Q's average.

Those questions are not representative of the USMLE Step 1 Questions. The reason they have it out is for you to see how they will pose a question, how they may present pictures, etc. The questions that ARE representative are the questions that you buy from the NBME (forms 1-4), those are quite representative, and some may even show up on your real exam (but at $45 a pop, is it worth expending ~$200 to get maybe 10 questions verbatim on your exam?). I got this info from my upper-classmen friends who've already taken the exam, I'm pretty sure it's true.

Another reason they made the questions available is for you to try out their FRED software (now with video, but that won't appear until after my Step 1 exam, so for now, WHEW!). While it does give you a score and all, really it's more of a "you're on the right track keep studying" deal, don't think of it as an indicator of your real exam! QBank may be harder, but it makes you search out those little details that will help you on your exam. I hear that UW is good and their questions are on par with the exam, which is a plus and minus here. Take all this with a grain of salt.

Also, Kaplan posted (I think for free) the explanations for this practice 150q test.

i finished these questions earlier today and scored an 85%. Felt like garbage after submitting each section too. I dont think I've improved that much either, but who knows. i would guess you're in good shape, esp if you hit some nbme exams.

I took those 150 questions and felt they were too easy and was also afraid that the score they predicted was too high. However, I took an NBME form as well that predicted one point higher than the 150 questions score, and my actual score was the same as that last NBME (and one point higher than the 150 questions predicted score). The NBME questions are much more representative of the actual test than the 150 questions, although you do have to take those estimated scores with a grain of salt and keep in mind that your actual test may focus on a subject you hate. But all in all it was uncanny how closely the medfriends site predicted my own and my friends' scores from the NBMEs and the 150 qs. Hopefully you will feel better after an NBME.

I've taken form 1,2, and 3 of the NBME and also the 150q test and didn't see much difference in any of them. They all felt the same difficulty to me.

Just took form 4 - 244/620, I really didnt think there was much difference. I honestly felt better halfway through form 4 than I did during the practice 150. But that being said, my predicted 150 was a 251, then after a week of solid questions, and review (like 800-900's) the fact that my score got worse also may indicate that it's a little easier.
