What's up with CHOC?

So, last weekend I put CHOC on my list of programs through ERAS. Checked this morning, and it says "This program is closed". UC Irvine is still listed/active. Then I check out FRIEDA, and it now lists 3 overlapping programs - UC Irvine, CHOC, and UCI/CHOC - and UCI/CHOC was definitely not there last week.

So, anyone know - have UCI and CHOC merged? I can't find any specific mention of it on their websites.

Yes, the programs have merged. There is no longer a separate CHOC program, its all part of UCI peds residency now.

This article was written in 2008, and they have written near the bottom that:

"Both UC Irvine and CHOC offer pediatric residency education. The programs will be combined within three years and UCI medical students will rotate through CHOC as a training site. The combined effort will improve patient care and provide a more complete environment in which to train high-quality pediatrician"

Perfect - thanks for the link. That was what I figured (I noticed the UCI logo near the bottom of the CHOC website), but I just wanted to make sure since it seems like it was just recently processed on FREIDA/ERAS.

Ok sorry, ERAS is now only listing UCI as the program you can apply to.

I looked at ERAS tonight and UCI went from being an active program 2 days ago, to inactive now. Anyone know anymore about this?

UCI and CHOC have merged officially. Final approvals, I believe, came in July and so reflections on ERAS are delayed. They supposedly will have the kinks worked out by the time we actually can apply 9/1.
