so, a friend of mine was interviewed last week and was told by the interviewer that if he has not heard anything from the school, he should not freak out bc this school is super competitive to get into... how would you interpret this, a good or bad sign? considering that during interview he said the interviewer gave him his name card and email address and said if he has any questions, he should email him...also, the interviewer offered him some kind of fruit that he didn't know what it called... and he asked something about questions that the interviewer himself said he was not suppose to ask him that, but i guess he was curious (it was about school he applied to and some score stuff) so he decided to ask him and my friend just basically answered it honestly... so yea..any imput will be greatly appreciated. He went crazy bc of this, and i am actually curious too...

this school isn't in the tristate are is it?

We can't say from what you've disclosed. It's important how things like that are said. I don't think it's a bad thing. Your friend should have a feel for how it went. Go with your gut instinct on things like that. And then you just have to wait patiently and count the days.

I had an interview where I was told I did great but because it was late in the cycle, I am really pushing it... still waiting to hear back and keeping my fingers and toes crossed. 😀

Good luck to your friend...

so the interviewer is just trying to tell him that if he doesnt get in.....he shouldnt feel like a failure because its a competitive school. competitive to the point that a really good applicant wont get in because theres so many of those competitive applicants. and for the fruit....i dont even know why its there..and came out of nowhere....

oooh! ooh! I know this! I know this!

"Some kind of fruit" = "The contents of his pants."

"questions that the interviewer himself said he was not supposed to ask him" = "What are contents of YOUR pants?"

"Went crazy because of this" = well, you know what happens next. 😍

I don't really understand the last part of your post, but as far as what interviewers tell you I can relate to. When I had my interview at NOVA the interviewers told me from the start that they are going to fight to get me in and that I have nothing to worry about. When December 1st came around I got waitlisted at the school. So, interviewers don't always mean what they say. Good luck to you and your friend!! :luck:

Weird...but looking back....only the interviewers from the schools that I got in gave me their cards. Wow! :laugh:don't get any ideas...this might be a random thing.

He was constantly jerking the content in his pants????? Is that right?

well, i guess it didn't mean anything... although some of your input might brighten his day a little bit.
btw, is it common for faculty interviewer to give their business card after interview??? can you assume that means he's interested in the student??
also, does an interviewer = admission comittee??
