I have applied to UF and I was just wondering if anyone knows when they start sending out letters of acceptance or otherwise. Do they send all of the letters out at once or just a few at a time? Is it possible to get accepted before the application deadline or do they wait until all applications are received. Had a 3.6 GPA and 98 PCAT but no pharmacy experience, is that comparable to what most UF students have? Any info would be much appreciated.

Call Nancy Crews and see if you already went through the adcom. I found out about 2 months before I received the acceptance letter.

She told me they wouldn't even have my package together to send to the board for 30 days after my Pharmcas was submitted, which was 1/10. So I'm probably out of the running. 🙁

I don't think so. They accepted later applications last year so don't think you're out of the running yet. As long as you got everything in by their deadlines there's still a chance.

I submitted my PharmCas app. about 2 months ago but I didn't send in my supplemental forms (LOR, campus ranking form, personal profile/essay) until about a week before christmas. I got an e-mail from UF letting me know my application was complete about a week or so ago. I guess I am just wondering if anyone else has received anything from the admissions office, either good or bad. I am looking forward to knowing what I will be doing for the next few years! Thanks for the info imperial frog.

I know that Nancy told me I would receive an email when they had everything, and that would be just before they sent it on to the review board. So they have all your stuff in their hands. Cool! :luck:

I spoke with Nancy a couple of days ago and she said that they had not yet reviewed any applications...but they would very soon. She said that therefore she has no info at this time. She also told me that they are using a new software that will allow them to process the acceptance letters in a more timely manner. The first letters should start going out by the end of the month. Good Luck to all! Michele hang in there....you're a strong candidate.

A friend of mine who submitted her application last year didn't find out until May or June that she had been accepted. :luck:

There's also going to be a few people who get accepted that wind up going to other schools so that will probably free up a few late seats.

I 've heard nothing from UF so far, except the email saying that my file was complete and I would hear back between now and July. Not really much help there. Hope to hear back from then soon. The waiting is killing me.

I heard back the first week of February, 2 years ago. I don't think the wait will be too much longer. Good luck to all the applicants and I hope to see some of you next year.

grxags, are you trying to get in at the JAX campus also? How long ago did you get your notification of a complete application e-mail? I got mine on Jan. 5th, so hopefully something will be coming soon.

Yes, the Jax campus is the only place I have applied. UF sent me an e-mail notification on November 11th that my applicaton was complete and I checked with them just before Christmas and they had received my Fall transcripts from PharmCas. SOOOOOO, now we wait. I met a student at open house that didn't get accepted until the week before school started.
I pray that I find out soon....as my 5 year old would say...."I'm not a very good waiter!".

Do you live in Jax...if so what part? I'm in Orange Park, but move next month out to Lake Asbury(Green Cove).

I'm also only applying to the JAX campus. I waited until after I got my PCAT scores (early Dec.) to finish up my application. They got my fall transcripts just after Christmas. I hope I got mine in on time for the first round of the admissions process. I am also in Orange Park! I won't be able to take it if I don't hear something before the summer. Good luck! All we can do is wait. Did you take your pre-reqs here in JAX?

Have fun in physics II. I really hated that class. I think my professor was brought here by the devil for the sole purpose of torturing students that didn't do their proper professer research. As you know, proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance. I am taking O-chem II this semester and it is my last and only class before having all my pre-reqs completed. Let me know if you hear anything from UF and I'll do the same.

I GOT MY LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 😀 😀 I can't believe it! I'll be in JAX for the fall semester! I am so happy, relieved, and excited. I can't believe it! Thanks for everybody's advice, I sincerely appreciate it. Let me know if you get in to the JAX campus so I can get to know some future classmates. I've got to go read it again to make sure it's real. Bye for now. 🙂 🙂 😀 😀

Congrats! Don't forget to post this in the Roll Call thread that the top of the forum so you can be added to the growing list.

Congrats! I'm in St. Pete, but the Jax campus at Shands is awesome. You'll enjoy it there.

Beast-

I read your posts regarding the wait timeline from when UF sent you an email confirming your ap was complete and when they sent your acceptance. It looks like about 3.5 weeks. Is this correct? Thanks. Also did your first email from them say that your "application will be reviewed in order of competitiveness"? This impled to me that it wasn't when you got it turned in completed, but instead how it is judged competitive initially, even before going to the Adcom. Is that your understanding or am I reading too much into this?
(I should probably just call NNNancy... ) Thanks!

Tyrol,

It does not matter at all when they received your complete application. They will review only based on how competitive you are based on COP GPA (Preprofessional Coursework GPA) and PCAT test scores. I'm still waiting to hear back from them, I guess a 3.3 UF calculated GPA and 99% PCAT is not competitive enough. And I'm still waiting for PharmCAS to send my Fall grades. Hopefully once they get those they will make a decision. Nancy told me they will make decisions all the way till first day of classes. So all I can say is just sit back and wait.
How are your stats?

Thanks for the input. That's what I figured. Posting these policies on the COP website would be very helpful instead of requiring us to have to piece together the information, not to mention less headache for people like Nancy. You sound very very strong. In my opinion they are just waiting to receive your fall grades before reviewing your application. Under "status", has Pharmcas indicated they mailed your update? If not, just a sugestion that worked for me -email Ms. Robinson at Pharmcas ([email protected]) and nicely inquire when they will send it. They sent mine the same morning they got my email. UF emailed me a week or so ago that things were complete including most recent Pharmcas grades. My stats are decent (3.7 science, 4.0 math) but a substandard PCAT (87%). I am a poor multiple choice format test-taker. You are absolutely right, all we can do is wait.

I have a friend with a gpa of 4.0, a 99% on the PCAT, works in a pharmacy, great LORs. Still hasn't heard from UF.

Many of us still just sit and wait. Some day we will look back on this and laugh.......... maybe not. 🙄

You're right, it was about 3.5 weeks. My first e-mail from Nancy read, "Our records show that we have received all the items necessary for a complete application. Your application will be reviewed in order of competitiveness. Please let me know if you have any questions about your application or application process. Thank you."
I was totally surprised when I got my letter. I know that someone else posted somewhere in this forum that they have also received an acceptance letter but there was no campus designation. Mine designated my campus, but I think that was because I didn't choose Gainesville as my number one choice. As far as how they determine the order for reviewing applications, no clue! What the criteria are for competitiveness is up to them, I guess. Good luck!

When did your friend complete his/her application? Seems like they would be overnighting an acceptance letter to your friend!

I am trying to get into the St. Pete campus, and have a few questions if you have a free sec.

First, I have a GPA 3.55, and a PCAT score of 92. Do you think that is competitive?

Second, Do you find it difficult to do well w/o being able to actually go to the classes?

Thanks

Aaron

Yes. No.

I have not yet been accepted. My friend with the 4.0, 99% was. And he was accepted to the Orlando campus, his first choice.

Your GPA and PCAT are competitive.

We actually do go to classes. Only the lectures from Gainesville are over the internet. One class of mine has the lectures archived and the Gainesville students have to watch the lectures online, too. Over the last 3 weeks (15 days), I was on campus 13 days. The actual classes with interactions are located on each campus.

For instance, my Communications class has 1-2 archived lectures each week, an online quiz each weekend and a 2 hour on-campus session. The same teacher drives to each campus to conduct these sessions.

We have online discussion boards for questions. All 4 campuses post questions and the professors read and answer regularly. They are always available for phone calls and emails. I haven't had any problems with not sitting in the class during the lecture. The grades across all 4 campuses are equivalent, so it really doesn't seem to have an effect on anyone.

YEAH! I got my acceptance letter for the Jacksonville Campus!! It was dated February 10th...but just got it on Thursday. I was in the middle of a move...that could have caused some delay in the mail! I'm still pinching myself! Bettysbeast...looks like we're classmates! Anne

Congratulations!!!! I'm glad to see Clay County with a strong showing at the JAX campus. There is another guy in my O-chem II class that should get in also (99 PCAT, 3.5 or so). I am looking forward to getting started and finding out what it is going to be like. That's awesome that you got accepted! Congratulations again! See you at orientation! 👍 😀

Looks like acceptance letters are being sent for the satellite campuses. Has anyone heard regarding acceptance for Gainesville?

Thanks

Congratulations! Both on getting in and having that nerve-wracking wait over. I'm jealous. 🙂

Thanks Michele! I know you're on pins and needles and I hope you get your letter soon. From your posts I gather we are very much alike (age, kids, stats). Hold on, there's still plenty of time!

Thanks to all who have sent well wishes and support...Tyrol, Jacobtp...I'm hoping we can all be classmates! I'm sending some good vibes to UF for ya! 🙂 Anne

does UF have interviews? I see some have been accepted already, but i havent read anything about interviews there. I still havent heard anything myself.
