Hey guys- I'm registered to take the prometric practice test this week, but I'll only be halfway through my 2nd run in First Aid by the time I take it. Should I reschedule the practice test to next week when I'll have finished my 2nd run (couple days before the read deal)? What do people use the practice test for? Just an approximation of your score, or do you guys actually review all the answers to the qs? Plus, if I don't do great 2 days before the real deal, there wouldn't be much I could do so maybe taking it a week ahead might be more useful.

I haven't taken it yet, but my roommate took it and he said that you only find out what percentage of questions correct you got per block. There is no breakdown of how well you did in each subject and they don't give you the answers in the end. The only way that I know of to use it as an estimate of your score is on the medfriends website, but apparently this year for some reason the prometric practice test is notoriously overestimating peoples scores (at least in comparison to NBME exams taken in close proximity). I personally know of two people whose scores on the practice test were 20-30 points higher using the medfriends correlator thing than an NBME taken within a couple days from then, and several people on here have had similar situations. With that said its probably not a good predictor of how well you do, but you can use it as a way to orient yourself to the testing center just to take some of the edge off on the real test day, and if you do well on it you can tell yourself that its a good predictor of your score so that you go into the real test with confidence (who knows if thats a good idea tho )
