I am starting the app. process this summer by applying EDP to my #1 choice school that is allo. Suppose if I didnt get in to that school and applied to DO schools would that make me late for DO schools (Apply Early October at the latest)? Also, how much is it going to kill me w.o a DO letter. All I hear is anecdotal evidence saying "I didnt have one and I got in". Can anyone provide a little bit more insight?

Early October would be alright. Why don't you get a DO letter now through shadowing. Some schools require it (most STRONGLY suggest it). They want to make sure you are interested in Osteopathic medicine.

I think early October would be fine also. I do agree that you should try to get a DO letter before then. Sure people get in without them but like Jpc said some schools require them and if not require they strongly recommend you have them. I pretty much equate that to being required. You're already thinking about this 9 months before you would be applying to DO schools so you've got time to try to shadow a DO. :luck:
