I know submissions will begin acceptance on June 5th. I wanted to spend some more time on my personal statement but I know everyone's been telling me to submit early because of the rolling admission. Would up until mid June still be considered early? I want to have the best chance of getting into some of my schools. Also, upon submitting the application is that the point when our transcript is reviewed with my inputted class data or as soon as the transcript is received? If they only do so once you submit the application how long does the process usually take, when should I be expecting the actual school to receive my application? Random question should my study abroad summer semester be placed under experiences, even if it wasn't really dental related (I just completed my humanities credits and some language courses during my time abroad)? Is it even worth mentioning?

Id say applying before July is considered early. I applied around June 15 last year which is 2 weeks after i was able to and i still got 6 interviews. I guess it depends what kinds of schools you applied to. most of the schools i picked didnt even start interviewing til late september

I don't know if study abroad should be listed under experiences. You might have to list the school under colleges attended.

Agreed. Everyone always thinks if you aren't submitted by week 2 you are late.

I had a question based off of this post. If I am planning to apply mid/late June should I send in my transcript now so it can be verified by the time I actually apply ?
Thank you

Verification process only starts after you apply.

Oh really. I had read you can pay the fees for your schools without applying so that the transcript could be verified. Is this not true ?

I’ve heard sending transcripts for verification should be the first thing you do. But I believe you have to have your application complete for them to verify.

So sending my transcripts in the mail now would be better than waiting to send them after I actually submit my app ?

Absolutely. It took a week just get my transcript there and then verification takes time especially as more applications come.

I'm taking my DAT July 19, so my application won't be in until August. Would that be really really bad then?

It isn't bad necessarily, you are just won't be early in your submission. Depending on your stats and application that may not be a huge deal.

You should mail your transcript now. However, it will just be on file. Once you submit your ADEA application, then they will start the verification process.

Im on the same boat, I plan on submitting my app last week of June or first week of July as I am taking my DAT mid July. So if I send in my transcript say next week they'll keep it on file? so they don't lose it or look at it way later in august or something correct?

Yeah so sending your transcripts essentially means that they get uploaded to your file. Then after you get to the submission point the AADSAS will check to make sure that what you entered into the application is the same as what is on your transcripts.

I assume that as soon as they get the transcripts they are scanned and loaded onto your application in some way so there should be no way for them to lose them.

But if you do not send in your application until later how would they know where to put it as many people might even have the same name as you lol Just trying to figure out when to send in transcript haha

Haha that is why when you send the transcript you need to send the school form with it. When you add a school to your AADSAS it gives you a form that you send to the school and have them put in the envelope. This form has your application ID number on it. If you don't though they look through the schools you have listed. All of my transcripts contain the last 4 of my social as well which they could use to find you.

I was in a similar situation last year. I took my DAT July 13th (23 AA, 25 TS, 21 PA) and thankfully it went well. I submitted a bulk of my applications 7/30 and they were verified 8/4, but I was still working on supplemental apps probably until mid-August. My oGPA was 3.67 and sGPA was 3.66.

My birthday is 9/25 and I remember stressing and adding a few more schools then because I had not heard back, but eventually I got interviews in early/mid October. Overall I applied to 14 schools, received 7 interviews, went to 5 interviews (all before Dec 1st), and was accepted to 3 schools and waitlisted at the other 2. So all in all, submitting a little later did not hurt me at all.

I think you will be fine as long as your GPAs are within the avg or above avg range and the DAT goes well. The big problem would be if the DAT doesn't go well, because I think you have to wait 3 months to retake it.

My biggest advice is to study hard for the DAT to do well since you really only have one shot (I used bootcamp and chad's videos, which were both very helpful in my opinion), submit your transcripts now, make sure your recommendation letters are in line/uploaded, fill in any other info on the application that you can (PS, ECs, etc). I actually didn't start writing my PS until after my DAT, but I did have ideas and I was also working at my school, so I had a lot of professors able to help me and read over it ASAP, but I would suggest trying to work on it now, if you have not already started. Also, once you do submit your app, make sure to stay on top of the supplemental fees. Just keep in mind that you will probably hear back a little later and don't get discouraged when you start to see other people on SDN start posting about interview invites.

Do the schools email you supplementals?

Do the schools email you supplementals?
Depends on the school. Some do (MWU-AZ, AT Stills), some have it on the AADSAS (NYU, UCLA) and some have websites to do it (Western, Roseman). You just need to check each school you are applying to, to see how they do it.

In fact, Penn has theirs available for everybody on their admissions website now.

Some do, but most of mine were on AADSAS. You just have to check each schools website and if you are unsure you can call the admissions office. Some of the supplemental payments were prompted by an email after the application was received and some were going on the websites to pay. You've just got to search around for that info too.
